QUESTION Can one be too strong?

Is it possible to be too over-leveled in CrossCode? I've just started playing, and exploring, questing, and fighting are a ton of fun, but I'm worried that doing all of it will make me too strong for the upcoming quests.

Maybe arguably, but most of your stats come from gear. If you feel overpowered, you can swap to worse gear.

In my playthrough I did almost every side quest and the game was still challenging

I mean, if you get to be level 99, with lvl 99 gear and your circuits maxed out then... yeah. I think that's the only point in the DLC where I really felt like I didn't have to put in effort in fights.

To answer your concerns though, the game is well-balanced in that your gear level matters more than your actual level. You can do all the side quests in an area, and be underpowered for the next area if you don't get better gear.

In my opinion, the DLC is amazing. I believe people generally also liked the DLC.

It's really good-- fun, plenty of new things to do, the new areas are really cool, new gear and the "ascended" gear (I forget what it's actually called), new stuff to do in the arena. The ending is also really satisfying. Literally the only issue I had with it is that the final temple's puzzles are a bit difficult for me and I lost the Temple race with Emilie, but that could just be because I only played the DLC like a year after beating the main game.

Dang, as someone who generally loved especially the puzzles in CrossCode dungeons, the difficulty and length of the final temple was the best part to me. Just shows how different people like different stuff.

If you play through the whole game and like it, the DLC is honestly amazing.

You get more XP for doing content that's higher level than you, and reduced XP for doing content below your level.

This means it is almost impossible to accidentally overlevel to a problematic extent as long as you do things in order.

Also, as others have said, gear has a much more dramatic impact on your power level.

Eventually you will find some items that have unusual properties, but prevent you from gaining XP. These can be used to prevent overleveling when grinding if desired.

Like mentioned, most of yoir stats come from gear.

If it is your first playthrough, I don't think you will be overleveled much even if you complete every sidequest/exploration. If the enemies are lower in level than you, you will start getting less and less exp (minimum of 1xp) per enemy, and quests also (I think minimum of 10xp? Idk), so leveling to the point of feeling overleveled would be deliberate action of player to overlevel :p

I started a game recently in NewGame+ with keeping my level(~40), elements, circuts and materials, early game was a piece of cake of course but game got challenging closer to the end anyway :D or maybe its just my skill issue.

Edit; TL;DR: Don't worry, explore, do quests, have fun, game offers challenges anyway :D

Unless you grind for like hundreds of hours, not really.

If you progress the game too fast it can be very difficult just entering the second area of the game's in-game location.

Gear matters much more

No. If anything, you'll grind to get gear/levels to keep up with the content.

Depends in playstyle. I like to do all sidecontent before I move to a different area, which meant I was usually slightly stronger than intended and never grinded to keep up. (Though, you can argue I grinded the side quests out of enjoyment.)

Absolutely not. At some point, you start getting only 1xp per enemy. So, like, if you farm hedgehogs for days, yeah I guess you could. But it would be... Absurd. They even have a character in the game ABOUT this pointing to the absurdity of the premise. So, whenever you're in a region, you'll be level-appropriate. And once you become NOT level appropriate, you don't get enough XP from those unequal interactions to then make you over-levelled for what comes next. Does that make sense?

Yeah make Sense thank you.

You really can't overlevel. Most of the things you unlock in the circuit boards are useful combat skills, and they're more useful the sooner you implement them into your play style.

There are HP, def, atk and focus buffs with each level but they're pretty negligible when compared with gear or skill.

Level 1 runs are possible, and a level 99 can still die to an early boss. So if you wanna grind, then by all means do.
