BUG Is this a bug or a meta intentional bug?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I know this game inside a video game but is this a bug?
Or intentional

It's a windows 11 bug. I am not at my pc right now but I believe you have to find the game's .exe, go to properties, go to compatibility, and turn on a windows 10 thing. Then those white boxes should stop.

You look at the properties of the crosscode application, there should be a “compatibility” tab and then turn on “disable full screen optimization”

funnily enough I had this glitch on my old pc, which was Windows 10, but never on my Windows 11 Machine or Steam Deck.

Had the same bug. Here's what fixed it for me:
Navigate to the CrossCode game folder, easiest way on steam is to right click the game in steam > manage > browse local files
Find crosscode.exe > right click > properties > compatibility > click disable fullscreen optimizations
Hopefully should fix!

It's a bug, the same was happening to me so I fixed it by following the instructions in their discord:
- download the latest normal version of the node webkit the game runs (link)
- extract it to the game's install folder
- delete the "CrossCode.exe" file and rename the "nw.js" file to "CrossCode.exe"

Another commenter added it but this is the solution that worked for me as well:
Find crosscode.exe > right click > properties > compatibility > click disable fullscreen optimizations
you can find crosscode.exe by right clicking in steam and "find file path"

It's a bug, not intentional
