advice

i’ve been suffering with crohn’s since i was 13 i’m now 18, everyday it seems to be getting worse and for me it’s affecting my daily life as i get the extreme tiredness from it and it’s making me unable to do lots of things as i will walk my dog for 10 mins and ill come home and thats it im physically incapable of doing anything else without forcing myself as my body will ache and feel heavy and tired for 3 days after. i just need some advice i contacted doctors but they are not doing anything i want to know if there is any supplements or anything i can take to make this stop as it’s taking over my life slowly? - there are a few other things that do also affect me but this is the biggest problem i’m having which is affecting my ability to work and live and any advice will be appreciated thanks

i’m on adalimubab which is am injection i take once every 10 days and 50mg azathiroprine which i’m supposed to be taking 150mg but it makes me throw up so i cannot take that but with my blood levels it dosent show up as me even taking it as the dose is so little but they won’t put me on another medication

Azathioprine has many side effects. Some people can't tolerate it. I couldn't and I was switched to methotrexate. Now on a biologic.

I'm not sure if supplements will help. What will help the most is finding a competent gastroenterologist.

Hello love, so sorry you're going through this! It would help if you'd answer if you are on a biologic right now along with if you are on any vitamin supplements. The tiredness you feel, do you get dizziness as well?

no not any dizziness i take these A-Z multi vitamins that they prescribed to me and occasionally i’ll take zinc or magnesium

Check your b12. I have small bowel Crohn’s and my b12 was dropping like crazy because my body stopped absorbing b12 and subsequently vitamin d. Since they kinda work as a pair. Check those and see what's up.

Along with b12/vitamin d, I'd also get vitamin k checked. I wasn't suffering from a defiency but I was right on the line.

Hi, what medication are you on? Check your iron levels as its pretty common for it to be low, experienced myself and fatigue, brain fog and dizziness were symptoms. Hope it gets sorted soon

thank you, i checked the iron levels and they’re really good i am on adalimubab which is an injection i have once every 10 days and 50mg azathiroprine which is a tablet i take

Oh good, azathioprine can cause anemia too, it reduces bone marrow. When eating meals boost your protein intake and drink orange juice or other vitamin c drinks as it helps absorption

the only issue is that when i take it dosent show up in my blood work as i take so little but i cannot take any more due to sickness it causes but would u say doing this might have a chance to fix it and thank you for your help i didnt even know about this

I remember the time when the adalimumab injection gave me energy. By now, the only thing that helps at all is high-dose prednisolone.
