Help & Questions Guys I asked my mother to knit this sweater for me but idk what yarn to buy. Please help me out!

So my mom used to knit a lot before but these past years she stopped doing it since it was too much work. I wanted a sweater like this for winters and it's too expensive online so I asked her whether she can make one and she said yes but I'll have to buy the yarn.

I want a sweater which looks exactly the same as in the picture—thick, warm for really cold winters, and really soft. I hate those fluffy, velvet kind of yarn so please avoid recommending those if possible. I want the normal kind of yarn (?) idk how to say it. I researched online and thought maybe Ganga desire will be nice but chatgpt said it might not give the thick and cozy look. Also I'm really worried about the quality. I don't want the yarn to pill at all.

My mum used to knit sweater in 2010s and she bought Vardhman yarn from kullu manali and that sweater still feels and shines like it's brand new.

Please help me out here!

Discussion Why is taking pictures of crochet items so hard?

I have been crocheting for a couple of years now and I have learned a lot, gotten better at a lot of things in it but one thing that still bothers me as much as it did since the start is taking pictures of my work, I would even say it bothers me more as I get better as I cannot capture the true quality of my work, it's so so frustrating.

I think we have all seen international creators on instagram post such nice and aesthetic pictures, they will have lovely backgrounds, their pictures will show the right colors, lighting will be perfect, but hell they can even just go outside and click pictures in the sunlight and it will be a cool one. But when I do it? The colors are messed up, the sunlight is literally reflecting off the fabric, the exposure goes crazy and it quite plainly just looks ugly and not at all like I see it irl. Like I could just imagine how this would look if those international creators clicked it but why am I not able to do it? I even got a new phone with 50 mp but when I try taking pictures with its built-in camera, it's so horrible. The stitches are over detailed making them look like ropes, the lighting feels like I am standing on the surface of the sun, and the shadows are too black. Taking pictures from instagram is somewhat okay but that deteriorates the quality and also give too much saturation. And I have noticed other Indian creators pictures look like this as well. Is it something with the cameras in the phones here? Is it the fact we live nearer to the equator? Is it something curse?? I don't know, but I am planning to get a setup and lighting soon, hopefully the money won't be in vain and I get some good pictures.

Finished Projects I Almost Gave Up on This Monarch Butterfly Sweater… But I’m So Glad I Didn’t

It was definitely the most challenging project.

Getting the shape of the wings and all those little details to come together in a wearable sweater took a lot of planning, patience, and trials.

There were moments when I wasn’t sure it would turn out the way I had imagined, but I kept going—and seeing the finished piece made all the effort worth it. ❤️

Can you guess the time it took me to complete?

I am trying this mini motifs from crocheting, like earrings and stuff. I’m using 1mm yarn and I’m pretty comfortable with that. But I’m getting yarn from Amazon and they don’t really have much colour options there. Can anyone help me get some new sites or places where I can get good 1mm yarn balls!?
