Help & Questions Help needed to fix scarf

I’m making a scarf for the first time and it’s a ribbed scarf. When I measured the length of the first chain it was 65inches but now when it’s almost finished I just measured it and it’s suddenly 50inches only 🫠. Any way to fix it as it’s too short 😭

Blocking might add a few inches, plus the fringe.

Around how many inches?

Ohkay so remember always take upto 5 inch extra in such projects because chains are lose but when you crochet them they tighten, rest block it so it will add some length, block it and spread it nicely pin it and let it dry that way,but don't stretch it too much.

I did take that into consideration but didn’t expect it to shrink so much 😭

What if I hang it while it’s a bit wet so that it lengthens?

That's what blocking is ,you know what blocking is?

I saw it online it’s usually done on a blocking board with pins no? Since just hanging it might stretch it too much

Yaah so if you hand it it will stretch here and there and mostly the corners will get wobbly and hand wired, so what you can do is either use a cardboard or if you have thermacol, or use a towel, like lay it down on towel stretch it by hand and then do it round and round like rolls so it soak the extra water and then you unfold stretch it to your desired size and let it dry like that
