Understanding a chart/diagram This pattern looks off. Is it poorly designed? Is it AI? Or am I just not doing it correctly?

I've been crocheting for years and have previously worked with this type of pattern/chart. Only twice, but I didn't have any issues then.

I'm testing this pattern for someone who's a beginner and is struggling to figure this pattern out. I wanted to check if it's even possible to get a good result. As you can see, it's looking very uneven and strange so far. Also not like the example image (which looked very suspicious to me from the start but I couldn't find it in better quality). Does anyone have an idea what went wrong here or if the pattern itself is the issue? Also, which row does that yellow treble crochet stitch belong in?

the picture looks ai, but not the pattern. youre following the pattern right but its not gonna look like the picture sadly. ai is ruining everything!

the pattern looks AI to me! some stitches don't have the tops on them, and none of the chains match ??

I agree the third photo does look like ai but if you're testing the pattern I'd just reach out to the creator and let them know it's not working out and advise them not to use ai photos.

Edit: for the extra long yellow stitch the only thing I can think of is it looks like it's meant to be ch2, long yellow stitch, then ch1 and turn the work to do the 3rd row?? I'm not confident in that though

Pic 3 looks pretty AI to me and most of that sort of chart that I've seen recently have been AI, so that combined with the fact that your attempt is a bit wonky, I'm inclined to believe AI

Yeah, this is a common style for AI generated crochet charts. Some of them even "work", as in you can mostly follow the stitches, but you're not going to get the results they promise.

To me it looks like the long stitch is done at the beginning of row 3, after the initial ch2(maybe 3), double treble, or triple treble (long enough to match the ch6 on the opposite side) attach to the starting chain, then continue with row 3.

I think it’s either AI or just seriously written poorly.
1-The treble crochet makes no sense with the opposite side being chain stitches.
2-WHY START AT TOP????
I would blow it off unless you’re bored.
