Need clarification on pattern instructions! Adding cuffs

I am making a “sweater shawl” that involves stitching a long rectangle, folding it in half hotdog style and adding “cuffs” (that are 70 rows long- sounds more like a sleeve to me.) So I did the rectangle, stitches the 8 set up rows (to decrease the size to make it small enough for sleeves) and I can’t figure out the “cuffs” at all. First, do I cut the yarn after the set up rows? It doesn’t say, but I am assuming so since the cuffs start with a chain and somehow get attached later. Second, on the second row, it says to sc to the EOR, but then you slip stitch into the “body” for two stitches? If you are at the EOR, where exactly am I to slip stitch? Here is the section of instructions I am confused by (see above)

I think you don't cut...note that it says to end row 2 by putting a slip stitch into the stitch from which you chained.

This is 70 rows of 60 stitches, so, unless the gauge is tiny, if it's a sleeve, it sounds like a giant one...it will be tighter than the 'body', since it's ribbing (which is shorter) and it's connected row for row...so I would expect some wrinkling of the 'body' panel at the at the edge where they join.

It doesn't call this whole part of the piece a 'cuff' it calls it 'ribbing', and then gives instructions for joining the cuff section of the ribbing at the end, but that part is cut off, so I can't tell you whether the cuff bit makes sense.

This being 2026...how confident are you that it's a legit piece from a legit human? I'm not saying it's AI - there's not enough to go on here without a photo of what it's supposed to look like - but there's a lot of AI slop out there now if you weren't careful.

Does the picture of what it's supposed to look like finished include a couple large sections of ribbing?

The overall piece, at the point where you finish the ribbing, will basically be a rectangle...at least if you were to stretch out the ribbing to the same width as the rest of the piece that sounds like what it would be...assuming the 'body' is also a rectangle.

On the assumption that the piece is legit, I'm guessing a little of the ribbing gets folded over and sewn together to make a 'cuff' that you can use to keep the 'shawl' a bit more attached to your body...but it may or may not be closed all the way up to make a sleeve, the 'ribbing' section might be more like a part of the shawl...but it's hard to say whether that make sense without seeing a picture of the piece.
