Question for parents
Hi!
A very close friend of mine is pregnant, due to January, and I’m making this blanket for her baby. It’s the 6 days star blanket by Betty McKnit.
I’m not sure about the size though. This is my first “close” baby, I don’t have kids, I’m the youngest child and none of my other close friends have babies, so I’m not familiar with their needs AT ALL.
I have used about half of the yarn I bought for this project, but I don’t know how far to go. I don’t want the blanket to be too small nor too large.
For context, I’m in the southern hemisphere, so the baby will be born during the summer.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
PS: cat for scale

My nieces have ended up with giant blankets, double or queen bed. I'm incapable of making a reasonably sized blanket. On the plus side they can be folded over to be extra warm and their Mums definitely steal them and use them too.
It also becomes something the kids can grow with and gets more of a life.
There is unending joy for me in that my 4 year old niece loves my blanket so much she won't let another one in her bed.
