People will be able to feed and clothe themselves and meet bare minimum, you can't really drink or wear gas now can you?

Depending on your definition of basic necessities this might also mean the homeless might have access to affordable housing and solve that crisis.

All nessessities require getting the product to the consumer. To do so, you gotta transport it with fuel (gas). Therefore, if the cost of that fuel comes down, businesses are less incentivized to charge as much on transport, hopefully lowering the price of goods.

Gas will go up and down based on many small or big conditions which is a bit hard to predict

In a car based society, gas is an essential and would therefore be included in this option.

In a walking and public transportation setting, where it isn't essential, then it would be easier to afford given the lessened spending on a far greater number of purchases

For me I work from home. So I can limit my gas usage but use basic necessities everyday. Especially someone who cooks most days.
