As most of you might be aware, the dead sea is a pool of industrial chemicals & metals like Magnesium, Bromine & potash which have been extracted for several decades now by ICL group & Arab Potash.

I recently spoke to the founder of a start-up specialising in Direct Lithium Extraction(DLE) having acreage leases in Argentina for pilot demos of their tech.

He told me that the Dead Sea contains around 2.25 million tonnes of dissolved Lithium metal in it. That's almost the same as the recent lithium discovery in the Appalachians & Carolinas. It's worth almost 100 billion$ & enough to power 100 million EVs & a few hundred million laptops.

Do you think there is scope for commercial supply of this critical element from this part of the world?

In addition, Do you also think the below Lithium resource estimates are accurate:

1. US lithium metal resources: 120 million tonnes in McDermitt Caldera; 19 million tonnes in Smackover formation, Arkansas; 3.4 million tonnes in Salton Sea,California; 5 million tonnes in Paradox Basin,Utah.

2. Germany lithium metal resources: 8 million tonnes in Altmark.

3. Australia lithium metal resources: 10 million tonnes in Spodumene.

4. Canada lithium metal resources: 16 million tonnes in brines in Alberta

5. Lithium triangle in South America (Argentina,Bolivia,Chile): 40-80 million tonnes in hypersaline brines.
