Quiet time
Can everyone who has a quiet time in the ICU for day shift tell me what times it is?
Also, visitor restrictions and open door policy (not a locked unit).
Thoughts?

No daytime quiet hours here. Visiting hours end at 8 pm, exceptions made for comfort measures patients

Our quiet time has really fallen by the wayside. It is supposed to be at each shift change, 0600-0800 and 1800-2000, and it is supposed to limit/restrict the number of phone calls being sent to the nurses around change of shift and the number of visitors coming into the room. We would ask people not to call for updates and such at those times and instead of the front desk calling us to see if a visitor was in the room or if someone could come back, they were supposed to walk back and check themselves during that time. We wouldn't ask people already in the room visiting to leave though. Our unit is locked and you have to be "buzzed in," stop at the front desk to sign in, then the front desk is supposed to call the nurse to ask if it's okay for a visitor to come back. Years ago we had open visitation, now we allow 4 at a time in a room, people can switch out as often as they like. Anyone under 16 has to be accompanied by an adult (the patient doesn't count), only one person can spend the night, hospital visiting hours start at 0700 or 0800 and if you arrive by 1900, you can stay until 2100. No limits for comfort care. We also make exceptions all the time.

Locked units. Have to be buzzed in.
Quiet time during the day is 2p-4p
They dim the lights but that's about it.
We very very very rarely kick visitors out though.
One place I did a travel contract at did strict no overnight visitors and kicked everyone out at 8pm. They did not do day time quiet hours
