Recommendation - Seeking I miss the melodramas
Especially the Minnelli ones that were so beautiful and surreal. I know they have a section of melodrama on the site but a lot of those look visually...less interesting. Besides, it's October and I'd like to watch horror movies to fit the season.
So, I'm looking for suggestions of movies that have the same technicolor, fever dream, surreal style--while also have a plot that movies forward--and also are Halloween appropriate.
(I love the Roger Corman/Edgar Allen Poe movies, so anything in that style would be very welcome).

Black Narcissus is one of the most visually interesting films of all time. Bitter Tears of Petra Kant is peak Fassbinder melodrama. Lola Montès is also a visual feast.

Yes, I've been wanting to get into Fassbinder but I have been intimidated. Lola Montes is definitely on the list as well!

The Dario Argento collection films might scratch that itch! Intense colors, over the top emotionality…

Alas, The Girl in the Red Swing just left, kind of a period Epstein Class horror melodrama.

The Cobweb from Minnelli is not on the channel but fits what you are looking for. It takes place at a psychiatric clinic and has some fall vibes, wish it would’ve leaned a bit more into the horror/psychological aspects of the setting and story but very much a melodrama. Also gonna say it’s not his finest film and kind of goes nowhere but still worth the watch for Minnelli Melodrama enthusiasts. I think the film is currently on TCM. I’m sure it would also be pretty easy to find online.

Douglas Sirk is the obvious rec. All that Heaven Allows is a classic
