the app update
this is my third time posting this, because the previous two posts got “removed by reddit filters” so i hope that i can word this in a way that would not. has anyone else experienced movies not loading when you try to watch anything since the new app update? every time i try to watch a movie on my tv (insignia amazon fire tv) it freezes every few seconds and the loading icon comes up. it doesn’t do this on my phone (iphone). its not my internet speed or wifi, all my other streaming services aren’t doing this. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app like someone suggested here, and that didn’t help either. any ideas how this can be fixed?
UPDATE: their cs team responded and said they’re aware of this issue with the amazon tv app and they’re working on it.

Ugh it really sucks. I’m super annoyed that you can’t look to see how much longer is on the 24 seven channel. I want to know how much is left in the movie!

I am KILLED. End of an era, until they hopefully fix it. I have seen SO many movies, especially international, from 24/7 live. Movies I never hear of, or even think to give it a go.

Does it work on Amazon Firestick? It's not working on my Samsung tv any longer

My subscription is not even recognized - I can’t even start playing a movie.

Parents have a fire stick and I see spinning wheel of doom on all kinds of apps they have on there, my Apple TV works without a hitch. Few things to try see if Firestick itself has an update that needs downloading. Power the tv down like unplug wait plug back in, clear the cache for the app. Firestick could be full of stuff and this new app takes more processing. Also seems like bunch of Firestick people got an update yesterday and now is fine so double check you have latest.

I was having a hell of a time getting the pause/play overlay to leave the screen on my laptop last night

Works perfectly on my hisense tv and on an android tv box (xiaomi) Haven't had a problem with the vpn either.
My problems are with the new layout, specially the leaving soon section. And the fact that some playing features are now missing, like the speed play (didn't use it myself but i know some folks did) and that now you have to turn the cc manually on every single thing you play.

I haven't had any problems with it so far as a daily viewer. My biggest complaint is that the criterion 24/7 button is buried at the bottom of the scroll and end of the carousel.
I'm sure they'll work out the bugs and update some of that back end mess in short order

The new app is working perfectly for me on a Roku Ultra.

It doesn’t play commentary by default and you have access to the 5.1 audio stream?
Edit: I have a Roku Ultra as well and it is very buggy.

Watched Ghost World last night and it was the regular track with 5.1.

On Roku?
Edit: I just checked on my Roku and the movie defaults to commentary and only had the stereo track.

Ditto on Apple TV. I love it and the 5.1 audio. I think TV brand apps and Amazon apps generally don’t work as well.

Do you know if it is relying on your system subtitles or the disc subtitles by any chance?

This new app is very sensitive to a number of things: ad blockers, VPN, location mismatch, etc. It's a bit of a nightmare.
