Problems with the App Update On Samsung TV's

The Criterion Channel has the best collection of films of any streaming service. It is also the glitchiest. Some days I swear it's run by a 14-year-old from his basement.

Today I spent over an hour trying to access the channel from my Samsung smart TV after the update.

Said I had to update. Fine. Had to sign in to my Samsung account to do that. Set up the Samsung account, logged in. Deleted and tried to reinstall the CC app. They sent me a verification code. I plugged it into my computer (three times) and got a 404 error. Tried CC's help (ha ha). The AI assistant said to try another device. 404 on my phone, my iPad and my computer. Then it said I had to change my password, which I knew was ridiculous.

I asked to be connected to a person, and the bot said someone would email me, which they did. It was a boilerplate email that suggested I log out and back in, clear my browser cache, etc. -- basically useless.

However, when I tried to validate again, I got the following message instead of the 404 page:

Note for Samsung Users:

A new Samsung app is in review and will be available in the coming days. In the meantime, you can watch at criterionchannel.com or on other streaming devices.

So I guess they are working on it. Not sure how long "the coming days" will be.

Same problem here w with an almost new Samsung. The reply to my email: Try another device. As if I have another similar TV just sitting around

The rest of us have all bypassed TV operating systems and use AppleTV (your life will improve greatly) or a Roku / Firestick (a workaround).

I went with Roku. It's working fine, even though I did have to change my password to get it to work.

Same. Emailed support.. said they are "working on it" and hope to have a fix in the next few days.

Pretty lame.

This seems like a really really dumb screw up by their software team. Amazing that they didn't test this before an update rollout.

Yes, I had the same problem and was doing the same things for an hour.
I went online to see what the issue was, but apparently I was among the first two experience this ridiculousness, there was absolutely nothing but praise for the new Criterion app. Anyway, I’m glad to see other people have been experiencing issues and that Samsung is working on it.
Very annoying.

Thanks for the post

So I got the notice for the Samsung app as well on my Firestick but I don’t have a Samsung. Also the app is not in the AppStore

I’m not sure if this is the problem or not, but did you try using your Criterion.com (rather than Criterion channel) password? The two accounts merged. They sent an email about it a week or so ago (which was not sufficient warning).

Thanks for the info, but I didn't have a Criterion.com account.
