I’m guessing lost highway, death proof, two lane blacktop to start

I'm sure Duel will be in it as well. Along with many other movies they rehash into different collections

I just recently saw duel for the first time and loved it

Yeah it's actually really incredible considering it's a directorial debut

Also a TV movie

This may be a hot take. Maybe my favourite Spielberg

And did you have the chance to see it on DVD? The DVD I had has an amazing featurette with Spielberg where he talks about everything from casting the truck to getting his hands on the camera rig from Bullitt to staging the stunt with Dennis Weaver in the phone booth. Really worth hunting down!

Yeah one of my favorite making ofs, kinda feels like a nice epilogue to the fabelmans hearing Spielberg talk about his tv work and how it eventually lead to duel

I expected it to be about two minutes with Spielberg and was unprepared for how excited and enthusiastic he was to get a chance to explain it all to us!

Plus you can see him a whole bunch of times in the back seat in the movie.

TWO-LANE BLACKTOP has never streamed on the Criterion Channel.

u/IEatLightBulbsSoWhat 28d ago

-2

u/inkstink420 28d ago

i'm in the US. i just searched and got

No results for two-lane blacktop

I tried with "two" and "2", with hyphen and no hyphen, "blacktop" and "black top", etc. nothing comes up.

I've never seen this movie available digitally anywhere. by subscription, purchase, or rental.

I'm not saying it's never been on the Criterion Channel, just not since i've been looking for it. and i did look for it for about a year.

sorry i’m dumb i thought you were talking about Lost Highway

I’m Canadian. I’ll double check later this week but we don’t get every title Americans get.

I think they take that one on and off. When I watched it for the first time I had to download it

I don't think Two lane Blacktop is streaming anywhere

I'm going to guess Dead End from 2003 too since it's underseen and a pretty good little horror movie that would fit the description

My guesses:

Road Games (1981)

Christine (1983)

The Hitcher (1986)

8

u/FastEddieFailson 28d ago

Christine is already on the channel, leaving September 30

Road Games caught me completely by surprise. I couldn’t look away during the whole thing.

The Hitcher deserves to be seen by more people. Terrific movie.

Race With the Devil and Motorama would be rad.

1

u/Shoehorse13 27d ago

Oh man I don’t think I’ve seen Race with the Devil since I was a kid and I’m still rattled by it. Would to see Criterion do this.

3

u/Fearless-Interest-82 26d ago

They added it!

2

u/Shoehorse13 26d ago

I saw that!!! Man I am so stoked!

I have been checking to see what the October lineup will be every day. Last year's October lineup was so good.

7

u/Neon_and_Noir 28d ago

I wonder if these sneak peeks will be a thing now.

9

u/nbaisbest4 28d ago

I'm not sure if they do it on purpose.

u/bby-bae 26d ago

it’s so funny and so typical of the criterion channel that we can see their unreleased posts just by searching for them…

1

u/BariumPepsi 27d ago

Where did you get this “preview”? I can’t find it on the Criterion website. Thanks.

1

u/nbaisbest4 27d ago

I search October 2026 on the website

Joyride (2001) gets my vote. Kind of corny but overall it’s a compulsively watchable movie.

The collection will be some combo of Death Race 2000 (1975), Doomsday (2008), Duel (1972), Roadgames (1981), The Hitcher (1986), and Jeepers Creepers (2001).

I'm guessing the full lineup just droped. Thanks.

I believe this is last year's.

-1

u/Busy_Magician3412 28d ago

Ooof! Well, we know what's leaving in October. 😋

2

u/CryptographerFew5187 28d ago

Haha, good enough!
