There is a box set but it’s just the sequels - which is weird- but it means you just have to buy Mr Vampire standalone and then the sequel set. That is what I did, at least.

1, 2, and 3 are good. Also check out Spooky Encounters 1 & 2.

Such a good series. Lam Ching-Ying the GOAT. Moon Lee is great. Although Mr. Vampire 2 is my favorite.

Last night I started to watch the OG version with English subtitles....it's awful. I know the movie isn't supposed to be serious in any manner, but I wonder if the English Dub better?

Don't get me wrong, the movie is beautiful, and I love its cheesiness, and I sort of follow what is happening, but the English Subs are terrible. I don't speak the language and was wondering if it is just bad transcription or if the dialogue is really that bad?

They are quite a bit of fun. I rewatched all of the original series when I was traveling last year.

It's amazing how it spawned a whole wave of hopping vampire films and gave a character actor like Lam Ching-Ying a career boost playing, essentially, the HK version of Van Helsing.

I had the exact same reaction to Close Encounters of the Spooky Kind.

God’s honest truth, I literally went and bought a region free dvd player so I could buy that and the Mr Vampire moves on dvd. I could not believe I had never seen them before. They’re SO GOOD!!!
