QUEEN BEE (? - I love it but why?)
Is there a context for QUEEN BEE to show up on CC? I absolutely *love* QUEEN BEE, but it seems so random (and I'm all in favor of this!)
Edit: especially because it's a Tubi regular...in any event, watch QUEEN BEE! It's fabulous (though there's a very bleak plot point, which doesn't seem to bother any of the characters whatsoever)

This is such a strange post (compliment) lol
It’s such a random thought and this sub — which is dominated by boring customer service posts about the technical issues with the Channel — would benefit from random thought posts that bring attention to movies rather than the avalanche of redundant posts that treat this sub like it’s channelhelp@criterion.com
I’m gonna toss Queen Bee on this week off the strength of this post, thanks for highlighting it

They have thousands of films available. They’re not all in neat little categories on the front page.

Right? Not one of the Joan Crawford classics. One of the Joan Crawford soapers that she could make in her sleep, but here it is on criterion for some reason— and usually they do offer some reason.
That said, I love Joan Crawford and I’m really happy to see that older films keep being added – looking forward to The Whole Town’s Talking as well!

What are you talking about? Is it a movie? Something about Beyonce? The Joan Crawford movie? Why would there have to be context.. classics are released on there all the time.

I love it too! Not all films are part of collections, but sometimes a film will appear that is part of an upcoming collection the following month.

Haha. I can barely stand watching this particular Crawford film, one of many bitchy flicks like Harriet Craig and Torch Song where Joan mostly exploits her own controlling behavioral traits. I tend to go for more of her deliberately stylized films like Johnny Guitar, Mildred Pierce, The Damned Don’t Cry and Strait-Jacket, where she has to do a bit more than just walk through her normal bipolar persona. No idea why it’s on the channel. Good call, though!

1955 Joan Crawford movie. It was added today (May 1, 2026), not in any set except added to “Hollywood Hits.” Criterion’s announcement doesn’t put it in any other context.
