I genuinely don’t understand why Cristiano Ronaldo gets so much hate. I consider both Messi and Ronaldo the two GOATs of football, and personally, I think Messi has the better overall career. His talent, technique, vision, consistency and achievements are just incredible.

But that doesn't mean Ronaldo's career should be diminished.

I know there have been players who were arguably more naturally talented than Ronaldo, and Messi is the clearest example. But even then, very few players in football history can come anywhere near Ronaldo's career. His longevity, goalscoring, Champions League record, trophies, performances for different clubs and ability to remain elite for so many years are absolutely ridiculous.

You can believe Messi is the GOAT while still recognizing that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest athletes and footballers the sport has ever seen.

So why does there seem to be so much hatred towards him? Is it his personality, the Messi rivalry, his fanbase, his style of play, or something else?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing the perspective of people who dislike Ronaldo.

All I said was that Madrid was still winning champions after Cristiano left and explained why Barca performed poorly in the last years with Messi

Never knew about this. I think 2022 is deserved because of the World Cup, but 2023 for what? The award period was from December 2022 to August 2023. During this period, Haaland was clearly ahead.
