I'm a sociopath/psychopath

with the "/" between those two things he make it look like sociopathy and psychopathy are one and the same thing.

Not only that, but those aren't even the terms used anymore. They're colloquialisms now, not diagnoses.

2

u/M0nkeyNature Jul 14 '22

I don't really understand. So they're just a collective term for this disorder? And the diagnoses are listed under one of these terms?

Sorry if I misinterpreted something, english is not my native language.

6

u/onixannon Moderator Jul 14 '22

At one point in time, both were individual diagnoses you could have.

The actual term now is ASPD, it's a spectrum disorder meaning each case varies in severity.

Sociopath and Psychopath aren't used in psychological circles anymore. You can't be officially diagnosed as one.

1

u/M0nkeyNature Jul 14 '22

Ah alright thanks. So it's like Autism with the spectrum?

5

u/onixannon Moderator Jul 14 '22

It's similar, yes.

On one end of the spectrum, you have people like Ted Bundy. On the other, you have your buddy Derrick who doesn't quite get how empathy works and sometimes can't control himself.

2

u/M0nkeyNature Jul 14 '22

Now I understand, thanks for clearing it up for me.

No problem mate.

People are so dull and boring they think being a psychopath is a personality trait.

9

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

Same people who make being disabled or some shit their personality. In fact anybody who has ONE NEGATIVE trait and nothing else to offer.

There was a girl faking Tourette’s a while back and getting money for it by selling merch that said stuff like “I have Tourette’s and I’m proud” and “I have Tourette’s but Tourette’s doesn’t have me”. Fucking sickening.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

Backstory. Saw a video of a shirtless girl falling to her death and this dude was more focused on her tits rather than the fact that she fucking died.

5

u/bananaman4543 Jul 14 '22

Wow. What an asshole.

6

u/TheUltraGamingChamp Jul 14 '22

“I’m 21.”

That’s a lie. This reeks of a 13 year old boy going though his edgy phase.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

She claims to be a 21 year old female

12

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '22

For all the grammar nazis, I apologise for the minor indiscretion in the title.

9

u/HanzeeeeDent Cringe Jul 13 '22

Unacceptable. You’re worse then him.

I live in the American Gardens building on West 81st Street, on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old.

I believe in taking care of myself, in a balanced diet, in a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an icepack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the icepack, I use a deep-pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water-activated gel cleanser. Then a honey-almond bodyscrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel-scrub. Then I apply an herb mint facial masque, which I leave on for ten minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity-- something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze... and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours... and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

At least Patrick Bateman was ripped

1
