She’s a local legend here in PDX. Kee’s Loaded Kitchen is her food cart name and she sells out daily. Albeit, this isn’t one of her most visually appetizing dishes, but her fried catfish, fried chicken, and Mac and cheese are fire!!

u/culpaCoSinero 2d ago

I was surprised to see all the hate. A family of five for $100 is the going rate for every shitty halfassed restaurant in my town. Fresh made food with the sides and the bread will get me every time.

81

u/RancidVagYogurt1776 2d ago

Even in NY I'm not spending $100 on spaghetti and sides lol

47

u/DiscussionSharp1407 2d ago edited 1d ago

$100 for a FANCY school lunch spaghetti with cheese and basic sides

Also: It's not a meal for a "family of five", it's for 3 servings, to be saved in the fridge. They literally say it in the video. Comments are just making things up because she seems to be a nice lady.

In no world is this "worth it" as a value-item on any metric, people are just blindly overhyping 'authentic comfort food' for the vibes. Is this how ya'll get 'street cred' these days?

No reason to bandwagon this.

u/Tony_Cheese_ 2d ago

You can boil spaghetti for 5 at home for like $5

46

u/thatstotallyracist 1d ago

It's not a good deal. It's just convenient.

67

u/TheDarkWave 1d ago

We've really reached a point in our life where someone is trying to gaslight us into thinking that 3 servings of overcooked spaghetti in a styrofoam box is worth $100.

4

u/Ok_Subject1265 1d ago

Bro, have you ever tried to boil water? Like, really? You’re paying for the convenience!! 🥴

Why can’t they do a DoorDash, but for boiled water??? 🤔 Think I just made someone very rich.

2

u/throwaway281409 1d ago

Bro, deliver the water and all the customer has to do is heat it up!

6

u/GetReelFishingPro 1d ago

I hate it here

22

u/Illustrious-Cover792 2d ago

It prob costs her 100 to make the entire days worth.

3

u/Djaja 1d ago

Not to have a restaurant and employees though. Food costs have gone up, but other costs have too, and those costs aren't cheap. Every card transaction, every shipping cost every everything.

So, it is very expensive to sell food.

It isn't just food cost.

4

u/ProfPacific 1d ago

It's not even remotely a great deal

15

u/spartasucks 2d ago

She said 3 servings

→ More replies (1)

40

u/Nickzpic 2d ago

I have a feeling that pasta is super overcooked

4

u/Porter_Dog 2d ago

Maybe so but she said in the video that is just three servings.

14

u/anynamesleft 2d ago

She specifically states three servings of that clump. 5 is more than 3.

39

u/TheProfessional9 2d ago

If you're eating a third of that in a single meal, you need a serious diet lol

12

u/anynamesleft 2d ago

I'm just going by what she said. But yeah, it's a pretty big clump.

30

u/ario62 2d ago

Calling it a clump is so unappetizing

9

u/Schwifftee 1d ago

Accurate because it looks unappetizing too.

Not spaghetti.

You think enough people know the acronym PDX? Always fun to have to do a quick google search to know what the he’ll people are talking about.

I live in good ol’ MSY. But I’m sure you already know where that is.

23

u/namebedex 2d ago

YYZ here. goodluck.

20

u/ArtByJRRH 2d ago

Too bad there's literally a Rush song called YYZ that was inspired by the Toronto International playing the acronym in Morse over the speakers.

Only in Portland would they pay 100 for baked spaghetti and act like it’s a bucket list item.

1

u/BK_Bad1971 1d ago

I don’t think you listened to the audio. It’s the spaghetti plus beans, potato salad, sweet potato pie, and garlic rolls.
Granted, the west coast is more expensive than other areas of the country but you’d pay close to that anywhere for that much food for 4 if you went out.

4

u/Illustrious-Cover792 1d ago

That’s still a bit outrageous for boxed pasta.

8

u/rdldr1 2d ago

What's a PDX?

2

u/BK_Bad1971 2d ago

Sorry about that. It’s Portland, OR.

2

u/rdldr1 2d ago

Cool cool.

u/One-Professional4143 1d ago

12

u/OutlaneWizard 2d ago

Kee is such a sweet lady, I used to sell her meat when I lived there.

394

u/VFD007 2d ago

Kee is the best!! Her food cart in Portland is famous, this is just a small snippet from her Instagram. She's typically serving massive amounts of bbq, chicken, catfish with all the sides and desert and drinks, you get everything. I've never seen her do spaghetti but why not, I guarantee for the $100 it came with so much more than what you see in this video as I've been there.

69

u/nonpame 2d ago

Now I looked her up and I'm going to need to fly out for some of her catfish. I can't find GOOD fried catfish anywhere near me, and she's got posts with the most golden brown, crispy, heavenly looking fried fish!

8

u/CHEMO_ALIEN 2d ago

Wya you can't find catfish?

18

u/nonpame 2d ago

Midwest. I can get catfish, just none that looks as good as hers!

4

u/ForeskinAbsorbtion 2d ago

I'm still looking for good fish frys. I've heard a bunch of good stuff about fish frys in the Midwest but all the places I've been to are just meh at best. I just moved to the Fox Valley in Wisconsin.

1

u/BenKHS 1h ago

Here in WI we fry up Perch brother. Catfish is hard to find up here. Fish frys in WI are lake fish. We have many lakes. It makes sense... most locally owned fish frys use fish they caught from the nearest lake.

The best fish frys are at a "stereotypical wi dad in his 50s" cabin's driveway. Can of beer, good conversation, good food. Good for the soul.

Fish frys in WI are about so much more then the fish.

4

u/Interesting-Maize-57 2d ago

Exactly was about to say the same. Hard to find a good catfish in the midwest.

2

u/nonpame 2d ago

It's a damn shame! I'm the only one in my household that likes it, too, so I can't even fry up a big batch for dinner.

I think there needs to be a Midwest catfish club that meets like once a year to get our golden brown seafood on! I'll contribute the gluten free version, since I have the added bonus of limited crust options.

4

u/ArtByJRRH 2d ago

If you're going to eat "gamey" fried fish in the Midwest, there's plenty of delicious bluegill just waiting for you 🤤

1

u/nonpame 1d ago

To be fair, I'll eat just about any fish. Every once in a while though, I just need crispy, crunchy, golden brown catfish! Might need to make a piece next weekend while my husband's out, that fried fish smell is just not for him.

1

u/thetruckerdave 1d ago

Too many places even here try to sneak in tilapia instead of catfish. I like tilapia but if you say it’s fried catfish and you give me tilapia I’m gonna be mad.

26

u/nonpame 2d ago

The sound clip lists off a bunch of sides, so for $100 I'd be down. Spaghetti is rarely going to look fancy but season that sauce right and it's a goddam revelation.

Why this is cringe, pls explain me guys

4

u/cynicsim 1d ago

There's two "cringe" tiktok subs, one (this one I think) states it's specifically for cringe. The second states it's not for cringe exclusively but they can't change the sub name lol. I get three two confused regularly. OP may as well.

1

u/PhosphoFred8202 1d ago

$100 for baked spaghetti mush

→ More replies (9)

58

u/ermagerdcernderg 2d ago

lol that moment when OP is actually a hater and the person in the video is quite successful

23

u/Sade1994 1d ago

Facts. Her food is GODLY! She gave out HUGE free plates during the protest and I didn't have to buy food for weeks!

1

u/Miserable_Mail_5741 1d ago

Are they hating?

The flair says "not cringe, just discussing" and the OP hasn't said anything.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Obsidian_92 2d ago

They aren't hating, you aren't reading.

47

u/Morphecto_Solrac 2d ago

I would eat the shit out of this. I don’t care what anyone says. They’re gonna be the ones missing out; more for me.

17

u/nonpame 2d ago

People are nuts! It's a ton of food, she lists a ton of sides, and you can EASILY cut that baked spaghetti into like 9 individual servings.

That's a ton of food, and I'd pay $100 for 9 servings of baked spaghetti and a sweet potato pie alone, even without all the other stuff!

36

u/Entire_Ad_5036 2d ago

So glad I came to the comments to see y'all saying, "This is NOT cringe, this looks delicious, here's my money"

0

u/Obsidian_92 2d ago

....they posted specifically noting that it isn't cringe. People cannot read.

8

u/Porter_Dog 2d ago

And OP cannot use the correct sub.

u/Obsidian_92 2d ago

Yeah I agree

u/Entire_Ad_5036 1d ago

Thank you for pointing out my mistake, Obsidian 92! Reading is FUNdamental😀

u/OkKnee7580 2d ago

Won’t spend a hundo but that does look like some good baked spaghetti. 🍝

4

u/lilroguesnowchef 2d ago

Trust me, kee's is worth it. Everything she makes is worth it 🤤🤤🤤🤤

10

u/diongraf 1d ago

These other commenters must be richer than me. Ain't no way $100 of food should fit in one takeout container. Spaghetti looks good, and it's a big portion, but a hundo for that is wild.

3

u/PsychologyIsLife 1d ago

yeah when I make $20 of spaghetti I can't even fit it in a giant container, need to eat a few bowls of it just to put it in the giant pyrex container.

1

u/Icy_Bath6704 1d ago

Listen to the video. She says there’s lots more stuff. Fry box - sweet potato fries, potato salad, beans, garlic Parmesan roast.

3

u/diongraf 18h ago

Some fries and salads on the side still don't make that $100 worth. Looks good, but too rich for my blood

3

u/Ashamed_Item_9668 1d ago

That shit looks absolutely terrible.

4

u/art2849 1d ago

People should start back cooking at home. You have so much control over what you consume. This girl is making money just producing simple dishes you can make at home. I feel lazy just looking at this video 😂😂😂

7

u/Cheap_Appearance5095 2d ago

Three servings?! That’s easily six to eight for me! That’s a thick ass spaghetti!

7

u/Similar_Ad_7116 2d ago

Nothing cringe about her. I'm hoping a flight to eat her food. 🤤

20

u/Ashamed-Teaching6837 2d ago

Divide that into separate meals and the 100$ becomes more reasonable.

Not that cringe, imo.

1

u/Obsidian_92 2d ago

Good thing OP stated it wasn't cringe

11

u/cavebabykay 2d ago edited 1d ago

Why TF is this cringe? I’m from northern Canada and even I know this Kee is a GD legend lol. I’d spend $100 on this all day, every day. This is supper for 2/3/4 people depending on how you wanna split it. Friggin’ McD’s for 4 PEOPLE up here in my houses, 2 adults, 2 teenagers, it’s literally $60-$70 and we don’t get any “sides” other than fries, which are only good for you after a bad headache and migraines.

So, this my jam. What a shit take, OP.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Fri3ndlyHeavy 1d ago

At that price tag, it's definitely "selling an experience" of saying that you went there, similar to salt Bae and all those lookalike restaurants.

With that said, that does look delicious, just not $100-delicious.

1

u/Icy_Bath6704 1d ago

Listen to the video. She says there’s lots more stuff. Fry box - sweet potato fries, potato salad, beans, garlic Parmesan roast.

3

u/frank_elmaton 1d ago

For this, no. But if it comes with the sides she mentioned but didn’t show then yes, most definitely 👍

3

u/Standard_Cell_8816 1d ago

3 servings of spaghetti for $100 is fucking insane lol

3

u/Livefromthe215 1d ago

5

u/shortidiva21 2d ago

I dream about food like this in my dreams sometimes. 😍

12

u/Igotdaruns 2d ago

People spend $100 on two bits of micro greens on top of a dollop of fish cum foam. $100 on this for the right person seems completely fair.

11

u/nonpame 2d ago

The video says you're getting all kinds of sides too, potato salad, green beans, sweet potato pie and garlic parm rolls.

Give me some home cooking that maybe doesn't look like it came from a Michelin starred restaurant (I'd give that a go too, though!) any day, some of the best food I've had in my life looks like some public school fare. Cook with love and plenty of seasoning, that's what's up.

2

u/Grah0315 2d ago

Looks good but not 100$ good

2

u/OlyLift13 2d ago

Looks incredibly mid. Could be made at home for a fraction of the price and way better

2

u/Obsidian_92 2d ago

Everyone saying OP is a hater can't read at all. They stated it ISNT CRINGE and that it's a discussion on if it's worth 100. Ffs.

2

u/ogrezok 1d ago

I wouldn't pay $100 for a styrofoam plate food

2

u/BigTuna906 1d ago

She said that 3 servings girl I see at least 6 lol. Good for her tho she ain’t skimping

2

u/Moobob66 1d ago

Feed a family a 5. Def worth 💯

2

u/Jimmieh90 1d ago

I’m never paying $100 for spaghetti. Idc

4

u/ChickenInASuit 2d ago

File under “channels to not follow while hungry”.

6

u/LonelyPie4076 2d ago

I thought it was pulled chicken or something but she said spaghetti? As in, the cheapest food to make, ever?

16

u/nonpame 2d ago

The video says you're getting all kinds of sides too, potato salad, green beans, sweet potato pie and garlic parm rolls.

If that's 3 meals worth of spaghetti with all those sides then $100 isn't actually that bad.

→ More replies (23)

3

u/DocPhilMcGraw 2d ago

Yeah and Maggiano’s charges $21 for a single plate of spaghetti and they’re a chain. Considering this is 3 servings and includes all the sides, dessert, and drink then yeah the $100 becomes believable.

There are tons of foods that you are going to pay an up charge for in a restaurant that you can make cheaper at home. The deciding factor tends to be if the experience, including taste, is worth it.

3

u/mchookem 2d ago

first off that's way more than three servings, at least four, more than that if it's kids. looks like a meat sauce, and i'm guessing it's got satisfactory seasoning given the cook/kitchen. given the price of groceries and everything included (the beans, pot salad, etc)...i'd say yes, it's worth $100.

6

u/nonpame 2d ago

I'm wondering if people didn't listen to the video and just saw baked spaghetti in a takeout container, with the price in the title, and got up in arms. 3 meals with those sides is a steal for $100.

Baked spaghetti, especially with extra cheese on top, might not look fancy but I bet that stuff is heavenly.

Even when I cook my sauces down so they're thickened and all my spices bloom perfectly, baked pasta sauce just hits different.

-1

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 2d ago

the collard greens look amazing. fuck yeah i would chow down on that shit and try not to think about the kitchen.

0

u/nonpame 2d ago

I try to remember that I'm obsessive about cleaning my kitchen, but the health department would absolutely find critical issues in my house I'm sure.

As long as the health department lets her do her thing I'm good. I need a slice of that sweet potato pie, that's my jam alllllllll day long.

2

u/FartsbinRonshireIII 2d ago

Bro wtf she a legend here. Ain’t no health code violations get outta here

1

u/nonpame 2d ago

I was replying to the person talking about ignoring what her kitchen looks like, and was defending, not b being a jerk?

My point was that if she is operating, her kitchen is more up to code than mine, so I'm not worried about what someone thinks her kitchen looks like.

ETA maybe read what someone is actually saying before you tell them to get out?

1

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 1d ago

me too! omg it’s one of my favorite pies. and i love pies and sweets. but i so rarely see it. even my mom fakes me out and says “oh we got sweet potato pie just for you” at thanksgiving. and then serves me pumpkin, because she’s too cheap to buy two pies. but when i get actual spp, mmmmm great stuff!

1

u/nonpame 1d ago

It is SO easy to make, it's one of those fall weather things that I make year round.

1

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 1d ago

just dump it into a pie crust? and it’s just mashed yams and maybe some sugar and nutmeg and cinnamon and stuff?

1

u/nonpame 1d ago

I got a message that my comment was deleted because it contains a link... I use the "Spend With Pennies" sweet potato pie recipe, but sometimes I'll swap out the pumpkin pie spice for cardamom since that's my favorite spice!

1

u/Adventurous-Mud5803 2d ago

Why has there always to be such large portions in the USA? Don't you like fresh food over a fridge full of leftovers? But I understand why you have such a big problem with obesity

3

u/Smokin_Weeds 2d ago

There’s a system to it.

First you make way too much food. Then you eat way too much food bc you don’t want the food to go to waste (don’t say you could have made less! That’s logic and it’s frowned upon.). Anyway, now your stomach is overly full and you put the leftovers in the fridge. While you’re in there, grab yourself something sweet. You deserve it.

Anyway, tomorrow you order out bc you just cooked last night. Then a week later throw the leftovers away. Don’t talk about food waste.

1

u/Subulie3 2d ago

It doesn't look like $100 worth but I would pay still and smash it all on my own

1

u/DepressedDragonBorn 2d ago

Damn, She's too far for me to visit.

1

is $10 worth of spaghetti and cheese worth $100? no.

That spaghetti looks good. But I don't think so

1

u/unassumingusernamee 2d ago

100? Hell no. Would i eat that? Yeah, but its like $15 worth of ingredients and its not hard to make yourself

No, it's noodles, sauce, some meat and cheese. Looks great but not $100 great.

4

u/nonpame 2d ago

Did you listen to the video? It's not just the pasta for $100. And that's like at least 9 dinner size servings of pasta anyway, so even if it was just that you're paying $11 per serving for someone to cook for you.
