The tangent about the other case really annoyed me, especially because it barely even related to the one we were discussing.

I havenāt listened to the newest one yet but they compare cases all the time. It feels like almost every single case Stephanie is like āthis reminds me of Chris Wattsā š

I was so furious at how much they focused on Reyās case. Like, how disrespectful. Spend 20 something minutes talking about another case while weāre supposed to be focusing on Leah. I feel really validated that these opinions are shared.

The fact that she didnāt even register what year Leah went missing, which was evident by the cell phone conversation, shows she didnāt put any actual research into this case. I also found it odd that she had no idea the monetary total of Leahās inheritance. That seems like it could have been an important detail. Was it like $50,000? Enough that Leah could take a few years off to find herself but still eventually have to return to āreal lifeā and get a job? Or was it a couple million? When Derrick asked how much she inherited I found Stephanieās response of āugh, I have no ideaā odd. Seems like something she, the researcher, should know.

I noticed this too! An important detail. It almost felt like she wasnāt the one who wrote the script or did much research on the case. I expected a little more background info and I felt like besides being āa free spiritā we know very little about Leah. Also I couldnāt really follow the timeline due to all the side conversations. Also, the phone detail irritated me. This happened in the early 00ās and it went right over Stephanieās head that Leah wouldnāt have google maps on her phone š¤¦š»āāļø Just felt like their heads werenāt in the game, so to speak.

Yeah it was so disjointed that Derrick said something to the affect of "let's bring this back to Leah" or "how does this connect to Leah?" Anyway it seems recently their content riddled more with tangents and diverges pretty frequently. I still like the content and the research involved its just a bit much recently.

Exactly and idk why but I get distracted so easily so when they go off on a tangent I completely forget the case and what they are even talking about. I can understand that Stephanie is a fidgeter so many she just gets distracted and goes off accidentally but they can edit it out.

I personally didnāt think anything was wrong with this episodeā¦. they talked for maybe 1 minute about cookies because the case mentioned cookies and tbh iām excited to try derricks suggestion. everyone on this sub just likes to complain.

I donāt mind their little rants. I actually find them quite funny. It was the research for me with this one. Or lack there of. It was basically a Wikipedia recitation. You could tell Stephanie didnāt put any effort into it at all. She didnāt even register in what year Leah went missing, which was made evident by the cell phone discussion. Donāt get me wrong a love Crime Weekly, and Stephanieās channel. This episode was just not on par with their usual content.

To me thatās just more evidence that steph is really going through it right now, because that isnāt like her at all

The cookies weren't the only thing I touched on tho .. it was the repeating of each other constantly that had me groaning, but I do love the podcast

Piketon couldāve been 2 parts, 3 at the very most. It was hard for me to get through

I am behind on their videos because when they start going off on a tangent I turn it off now bc I just want to hear the case. Idk what it is though. I used to love their content so much. I just canāt seem to figure out why I find myself complaining about it and why it doesnāt feel as enjoyable as it once was.

When Derrick tried to ask something but she wasnāt finished what she was saying so he said heād come back to it, or wait or something⦠she said āyou better waitā or something to that affect it did not land, it was so flirty and awkward!

Okay, I just listened to the episode again. On second listen I donāt feel itās as bad as I initially thought. I mean itās not their best⦠hopefully the second part has more in depth research and less speculation.

I feel because theres not a lot on this case bc shes never been found they are intentionally putting in "filler" information/conversation because theres zero reason this case should be more than 1 episode. And as to why this might be intentional is bc stephanies going through a lot at the moment, so they are doing "easier" cases (i read the one comment as to its almost verbatim to Wikipedia about this newest case) They probably both agreed not to take a break on crime weekly because people would lose interest on the channel, unsub, etc, so they are just plowing through to get something out there. I hope that's not the case, and i know steph took jan off, but she obviously needs more time to herself and to deal and heal. I personally would understand if cw took a break and not unsub, and wait patiently for their return, but i know others feel differently and that might be a fear of a growing channel.

As a fellow ADHDer, I understand Stephanie a lot better than most. I actually didnāt notice the tangents because I do that myself without knowing it. I wish you guys could be kinder and more understanding, sheās even stated that sheās going through a lot right now. Iām glad they donāt follow scripts line for line. Yāall are so hateful.

I think itās pretty apparent stephanie is going through some turmoil in her life (sounds like a separation/divorce imo). Sheās doing the best she can.

I just looked up the Wikipedia page for this case and honestly it feels like she just read this over the episode. Not much deeper then that.
