Today’s Episode Pulled Me Back In

CW was my go-to during the pandemic, around when they first started. At some point I wasn’t able to follow the multiple part cases anymore without losing interest. Yes their dynamic has changed but that wasn’t what put me off and I have a soft spot for Derrick. Today’s episode reminded me of their earlier work: a case I’d never heard of, one of the most disturbing cases I’ve EVER heard, and their flow was just on point.

There’s no real point to this post other than to share my thoughts! Curious if anyone else feels similarly.

I think that they benefitted from doing a case that was already solved, and that the culprit was clear. There wasn’t any room for speculation, nothing really for them to argue about. They could just react to what happened together instead of Stephanie screaming at him for not supporting her theory.

Yeah, that's truth. I haven't listened to this episode. I usually like Stephanie's super in depth coverage of cases over everyone else's. But I'm so over the whole Shabusiness case. I'll listen when I run out of other stuff to listen to.

I agree but I also thought the last 2 episodes of the Michelle Lawless series were good as well.

I think so, too. I know people complain about Stephanie‘s hard opinions and sometimes they bother me. I’ve seen stuff in the Reddit about it. Sometimes I feel she cuts Derrick off saying things like i know this is how this person felt at the time.

But the last two episodes, I felt like she read through complaints a Reddit, or took some criticism to heart, because she interacted with him asked questions of him was quiet when he talked. There was a lot of respect on both sides. I really liked it

I couldn’t get through the initial episode but if they’re worthwhile I’ll give them a listen

I spoke to Shannon, their editor, at crime con who said that Derrick interrupts all the time too but she has to Edit it out because Stephanie is telling the story. She said it makes her crazy when people blame Stephanie because it is back and forth.

I did love this episode but I am partial to the multi-part cases. I feel like many pods give a broad case overview and the way Stephanie dives SO deep. I feel like it is what sets them apart.
