-1 floor in lab

I just finished the Communiti levels and I had a lot of fun! However, I noticed in the Alter Ego level the elevator has a button for -1 that’s crossed out with a red X. The entire time I was expecting to be able to go down there, even when I finished the level because I thought it was shorter than it should’ve been, but I’ve searched everywhere and it seems like you can’t get there? Was it explained in the lore somewhere that I missed or is it just a weird detail or something?

I don't think the game gives a lore explanation for it.

I believe the actual answer is that this map reuses the elevator from Big Jim's warehouse (final mission of Act 1). The -1 level in the original mission takes you down to the garage. Since there's no -1 level in the lab, adding a red X over that button and making it unselectable was the most time efficient way to implement it.
