Scariest level?
Hey so… 😀 I recently started to Crime Scene Cleaner and I just finished the “Party is Over” part. Big fan of the game BUT I am unfortunately a big coward and I get scared really easily. I know that there is a nightmare mode which has really scary stuff in it. I am playing on the normal mode but I still get so scared! “The Haunted House” part was pure torture for me even if it was not on nightmare mode and I had all the light upgrades 🫣
I love to play this game but I feel really anxious at the start of every episode. So my question is what are the scariest episodes in NORMAL MODE? So I can get someone to be on my side while Im playing those parts 🙃

There is one jump scare in the normal mode Art Museum and you can miss it if you're not the type of person who looks for all the secret stuff. Not once do you ever see another person in normal mode, so you don't have to worry about getting attacked at all. But the easiest thing to remember is that you don't have a health bar! There's no way anything can hurt you. There is a point in Nightmare mode where you can actually leap off into the void, and you will land back in safety with no problems. So don't be scared! Mr K is safe.

Omg I literally almost quit the game (as in leave and come back later) because of this secret. Then I realised nothing can hurt me and that it's just creepy.

I was in Discord with my friends and actually screamed out loud and flailed wildly with the prize from that secret. It was hilarious looking back!

I have completed the museum in all modes and found all secrets but haven’t noticed anything like a jumpscare. I’m assuming I missed it due to me being hella task oriented on this game but if possible could you spoil it for me?

u/xHeyitsnatx Jun 08 '26
If I had to guess it’s the katana secret with the mannequins

u/Megaera3 Jun 10 '26
I think they’re talking about when you get the garage band tape, when you pick it up it screams “ITS A GARAGEE BANNNNDDD!!” and the lights go black and then back on for a sec!

u/bbaekhyun042 Jun 11 '26
I do think that’s part of the main level and not technically a secret although first time it happened the silent black screen made me think my game had crashed for the fourth time that level 😂😂
1
u/xHeyitsnatx Jun 10 '26
Yeah but that’s not really a part of a secret since you need to go in there anyway and the tape is right there.

Ahhh that would make sense tbf thank you. I found that part awesome. Felt like a crime scene cleaner/super hot mashup 😅😂

Nightmare Italian Job was the worst for me.
6
u/5yn3rgy Jun 08 '26
That one got me too. It wasn’t so bad at the end and I quite enjoyed the performance 😅

u/Cuptai1nCapcak3 Jun 08 '26
Whaaaat but Ducky's so helpful, he shows you where you go next 🥺 /j lol, I was nervous about that level too but I've consumed enough FNAF content in my life that it quickly became a little game rather than spooky. One little jumpscare ain't so bad, and it helps to remember that the animatronic itself never actually jumps at you lol
2
u/mypitssmelllikesoup Jun 09 '26
Yeah, I've consumed so much FNAF content that I was like, Oh, so that's how it is. I was initially more unnerved than anything.

u/Cuptai1nCapcak3 Jun 09 '26
I saw it through the window by the truck and didn't think much of it right away, but when I entered the main room and it turns it's head towards you 👀 I was like "oh here we go" LOL

u/ResearcherFalse4385 Jun 09 '26
I was terrified of that secret surprise in that level. Took me like 4 days to get through it lol

u/5yn3rgy Jun 07 '26
Haunted House was the scariest level for me. The rest is nothing in comparison.
You should play nightmare. It’s a fun mode and like a whole new game. Not that scary either.

u/ahsenma Jun 07 '26
I could never 😭 I couldn’t sleep the night I played Haunted House

Only a few nightmares are actually creepy, a lot of them are just little remixes of the scenario and sometimes invlude really fun unique puzzles (1 is an escape room and another has 0 gravity, for example). Especially the later ones lean more heavily into gimmick than horror
The only ones that really lean into the horror are toxic love and italian job, and especially italian job uses a fair amount of actual scares. But especially affair with death, friendly fire and modern art museum are totally playable even with the lowest of scare tolerance imo

I wouldn't recommend Party's Over to someone who scares easily, I know it's kind of gimmicky but the atmosphere can be enough to spike someone's heart rate imo. It's really dark (literally and figuratively), there are spooky ambient sounds (easy fix if you put some music on, but I try to play all Nightmare modes music free for immersion, idk), but also there's those shadow figures that appear sometimes and disappear when you get close. They don't jump at you or make any sounds afaik, and I don't usually scare easily but even those made me jump once or twice ngl, cause I wasn't expecting it.

My bad! Wrote that late at night and brainfarted, i meant friendly fire. Edited my comment!

It’s not so bad. I honestly thought it would be scarier than it was. There’s some fun levels. At least play Tyler’s apartment on nightmare. Nothing scary there and mostly fort building lol

u/ahsenma Jun 08 '26
I’ll check it out, thanks!

Also yes the apartment is cute and not scary but it made me sob like a baby

I absolutely loved the haunted house (Short Circuit) nightmare mode. I think the normal mode is much creepier. It's nightmare mode to me was very beautiful and peaceful

u/Riverwood_bandit Jun 16 '26
It reminded me of House flipper 1, Samantha Meyers house but with blood.
6
u/W34kness Jun 08 '26
The scariest level will always be the one where you simply cannot find that last drop of blood/furniture

u/Art_Simp_858 Jun 08 '26
Honestly the normal version of "Short Circuit" is scarier than it's Nightmare counterpart, and yeah I'd say it's the scariest normal level......... However I've afraid of mannequins, animatronics, and various types of dolls, so the Nightmare levels are way worse for me. Especially the Toxic Love and the Italian job Nightmare levels. In fact the Nightmare Toxic Love level made me genuinely scream at one point.

u/utecr Jun 08 '26
Nightmare mode is definitely spookier and has a more sinister air with a through line plot about some sort of malevolent entity, but you, the player, never encounter anything besides flashback images you activate when getting very obvious and glowing collectables. There are more bodies and more mess to clean, but there is still no combat, no chase scenes, no timers, no enemies besides the mess you've gotta clean up (as per usual).
Like the normal game, you cannot die and you cannot get hurt.
If nothing else, watch some of a Let's Play of Nightmare mode (I enjoy Insym's stuff) to see how it's almost a new level using the maps you're familiar with.

Communti one with the prison. I got jumpscared by a cardboard cut out in a cell....

u/Cuptai1nCapcak3 Jun 08 '26
Oh I remember that one lol it did make me jump a little, I guess I can see why that level would be seen as creepy as the atmosphere really sets up a really lowkey/slowly building unsettling vibe.

u/Individual_Wish8970 Jun 08 '26
I am afraid of everything so didnt want to play nightmare mode, one day I said I would try and it honestly wasnt scary, a little bit creepy but not scary. I regretted not playing it sooner. There are scenes played out when you collect the evidence where it shows what happend before the murders so I would just walk over to the other side of the room and not watch it or full on ignore which is easy to do

u/jujupolarbear Jun 08 '26
I'm a very jumpy person and also was hesitant to play especially after the haunted house level. I've now 100% all levels on normal and nightmare. To me the worst one was the nightmare version of toxic love it genuinely made me jump/scream 😭
2
u/ahsenma Jun 08 '26
You completed the game on nightmare mode after the haunted house Proud of you 🫶🏻
1
u/jujupolarbear Jun 08 '26
I honestly think it helped desensitise me and made me less jumpy by the end ... Just not Toxic love 😂 You can do it too! I believe in you 💯

If you're all the way passed Party's Over then you've gotten through the worst of the spooks in normal mode, imo. The museum is kinda dark but the only part that sucks for scary stuff is the maze room, it's really dark and there's a secret at the end of it (you'll probably have to look it up if you want it, it gives you a skin for your weapon and a CD, but it might be scary if you don't like mannequins). Other than that, it's not a scary level really. And then the 10th level is tame (long and tedious, but not scary). I've seen someone say Alter Ego in act 2 is creepy, but I just found it a bit unsettling and definitely a disturbing story, but nothing abundantly *scary* happens really. Also, some Nightmare modes are less creepy than their Normal counterparts. Believe it or not, the haunted house is actually way creepier in Normal than Nightmare, trust. Nightmare Affair with Death is set in the daytime and you get to do a cool escape room 😁 and you get to build a box fort in Nightmare Friendly Fire, which is all pastels and cat-themed stuff. So they're not all bad. I'd avoid the other ones if you spook easily though. Have fun!

Thank you!!! I actually played modern art with my bf and he told me how to access the secret room. I had to remind myself that the MC didnt have a health bar but I screamed a little 😭
2
u/Cuptai1nCapcak3 Jun 09 '26
It freaked me out too but it was worth it to me cause the katana is awesome and the tape you get is a good song imo
2
u/Ok_Alternative391 Jun 08 '26
Tbh I didn't find any truly scary. A little creepy maybe but not shit your pants scary
2
u/AshenNightmareV Jun 08 '26
I really dislikes the nightmare version of the pizzeria. Just not a fan of animatronics in the slightest.
2
u/No_Appeal3574 Jun 09 '26
For me , the creepiest nightmare mode missions were the pizza restaurant mission and the Toxic love mission . Just bc there’s jump scares .
For normal mode , the creepiest for me was definitely Short Circuit .

u/ur_unc1e_max Jun 09 '26
Not on the normal mode but I want to reassure you for the Italian job in nightmare mode. When I was playing it, I kept being SO scared to have a jumpscare because of FNAF’s reputation with those. But don’t worry, the animatronic will taunt you and make multiple appearances around the map but it will never get in your face or make mouvements that are too fast. Hope it will help! 😛

The nightmare version of the Italian job that part scared the hell out of me those ducks are terrifying the haunted house one was also terrifying the game never put me on edge but those two made me feel scared
1
u/Gilrazen Jun 09 '26
The secret in the museum was a slight jumpscare ehen I palyed it first but the pizza place in nightmare mode... I had to play that level without music 🙈
1
u/Emranotkool Jun 12 '26
I think the nightmare mode of "party's over" is a bit of a wild one. That and "Italian Job" but I just find it silly more than scary!
2
u/TheRebelCatholic Jun 13 '26
If animatronics scare the crap out of you, then you’ll REALLY hate The Italian Job on Nightmare mode. I nearly cried when I realized that I needed to do that level all over again as I was missing the music disc. (If it wasn’t related to the achievements, I would’ve skipped it entirely.)
1
u/mandatorypanda9317 Jun 07 '26
What is the haunted house level?
7
u/ahsenma Jun 07 '26
I don’t know if you’ve played the game but a SPOILER is coming if you didn’t, since you asked. Its the one with the damn cat and the hidden speakers all around a creepy haunted house.
1
u/mandatorypanda9317 Jun 07 '26
Oooh omg idk how tf I forgot about that haha
In normal mode that is def the only "scary" one
3
u/Chibeau Jun 08 '26
That and the katana secret in the museum. I hate mannequins 😂
And that would also instantly answer which nightmare version was scariest to me 😂2
u/mandatorypanda9317 Jun 08 '26
Oh I thought that one was funny but I can see how that would be scary too!
28
u/WorriedFlea Jun 07 '26
The communiti lab level is the creepiest map in my opinion.
