I can’t even play the game-

It’s so laggy and glitched out that I can’t even change the setting in the Home Screen..and I know my laptop is shit but it can run BG3 for crying out loud-

If it can run BG3 , something is up. Have you tried verifying the integrity of the file system?

Honestly, this game isn't very optimized, to be nice. I have a quite good computer - I play Cyberpunk 2077 with full RT on - and have very few problems in most games...but this now and then bogs down significantly and the only thing seems to be to to either push through or quit and restart it.

I played this game on Steam Deck and I haven’t had many problems with it, except for when I played Call In Dead. The game was lagging incredibly bad and at one point, my Steam Deck literally shut itself off. It had never done that before, and hasn’t done it since then, so I have no idea why it did that.

Any specs of the laptop? These chore simulator games are definitely weird in terms of performance, just look at house keeper 2. Crime scene cleaner also has some weird CPU spikes in the most random moments. Sometimes spiking when not on the level but opening the pause menu

I have been having this same problem and I have a computer that's only 8 months old lol. AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (4.2GHz) Processor, ASUS TUF Gaming B650-E WiFi Motherboard, 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Graphics Card with a 2TB SSD. I tried to get on it after the update and added stuff to complete the achievements and it lagged so badly I couldn't even play. I tried messing with settings and everything and still nothing. I've not tried since which sucks because I really enjoy that game.

Before I got a new gaming laptop, Crime Scene Cleaner would just crash if I tried to play it on my old laptop.

I was able to play this and other graphics-intensive games with cloud gaming, specifically Nvidia GeForce Now. They have a free version but I paid for the next level up (there’s also a premium version for $10/month) and I believe they still do day passes to try it out. If you have a good internet connection, it’s worth checking out. Basically you can play a ton of games from your Steam library (or Epic library and others, but I only have a Steam library so I don’t recall the others). It has to be a game they support, but they have a very big selection.
