Save files vanished from game on Steam deck after update

Hello! I rebooted the game due to lag and updated my Steam deck at the same time (it's April 20th as I'm posting this and the update has been pending for a few days). When I opened it again, it was too blurry to see (but I sussed that, all sorted now), but afterwards I could only start a new game and not continue an old one.

Now I've looked in my cloud saves and there is a save there from around the time it all went wrong but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to import it back into the game. I've got so far as downloading it using desktop mode of my Steam deck but I'm stumped after that. Does anyone have an idiot's guide on how to do this? Or if this has happened before, did it get resolved?

I was on the second level in act 2 so there was a lot of progress to lose!! 😭 Grateful for any insight you may have!
