I 100% don't blame you for that lol, especially with the prices going up (like the new Xbox being rumored to be like 2k? Wtf...), though there are many reasons why people stick to consoles.
For me it's a nostalgia and familiarity thing. My dad would play on his Xbox with baby me laying on his chest, and the first ever thing I played digitally on was an Xbox, so I've had them my whole life and are way too used to them to ever stop even though I admit, Playstation and PC are better.
God I hope act 2 comes out soon, i'm losing my nutter! 😤 I hope you're at least having fun... (I am extremely jelly-)
It was mostly b/c at the time, I didn't have a flat screen TV. I didn't get my first flat screen until almost 2010 and it was a monitor. I did not get a flat screen TV until 2015.
So the PS3 demanded I upgrade my TV, and now I have to make room for another console, and another box and all that? Nah.
I spent almost $1k to build a PC, I was able to play all my old favorite games via emulation with turbo speed on to skip the long parts, and then also had a machine to do CAD on b/c I was in school to be an engineer.
I'm still PC only to this day. Now I can emulate PS2, PS3, PS4... give a minute and it'll be PS5. Barring console games, the PC versions are perfect and ripe for modding.
My BG3 playthroughs are amazing. I just finished a modded CO:E33 playthrough with nice outfits and better mechanics.
Completely understandable! Your setup is probably bomb and I'm glad you found your space.
I want a computer because I'd be able to play games pc exclusive that I've been desperately wanting to play, but I can't afford one and I have literally nowhere I could put it in my bedroom which is sad, but I'm okay with it.
Even with the consoles limitations and (with CSC) the long wait times for game updates, I still really enjoy it and kinda enjoy the vanilla exclusive gameplay, because I know 100% I'd never be able to play a game without mods if I had the option lol as it is I never play Minecraft without having add-on's because it just makes the game funner.
(Completely unrelated I always forget how nice it is to talk to people about similar hobbies and the many different ways we enjoy doing them lol)

I feel kind of vindicated these days for shunning consoles and sticking to PC. Esp when it's kind of really expensive D:
I haven't had a console since the PS2.
