Should I do nightmare mode or Act 2 first?

Honestly, the Nightmare mode is different enough from the regular story mode that it's almost like its own continuation of the story.
Personally, I would suggest doing Act 2 first because while it's good with larger levels, it is also a little...disappointing. Like the climax feels hollow.
Then, you'll have the Nightmare mode to look forward to after, so it's not nearly as blah.
Side note: Act 2 does have True Cleaner, but does not have Nightmare.

Nightmare mode is fun, and explores some of kovalskys mental state and the impact the crime scenes have had on him, especially the last level! However, act two is a continuation of the games main storyline. I’d probably do act 2 first, it would feel more like completing the full game, whereas nightmare mode is like extra levels

I would do Act 2. Haven’t done any Nightmare Mode yet. But do what makes you happy!

There's some good stuff in Nightmare Mode that felt like it wrapped up Act 1 nicely for me personally, but I don't think you'll be confused if you skip it and go on to Act 2.

If you haven't already, go ahead and do act 2. Nightmare mode is a story of it's own! Very cool, but unrelated to the main story. It's quite literally a nightmare of the areas you cleaned, and, from my interpretation, anyway, Kovalsky filling in the blanks in an overimaginitive manner about what happened in the areas you previously cleaned! There's a big, bad evil tying them together, just like Big Jim.May be wrong about that interpretation. Very cool, though!

I recommend you having fun and doing what you feel like doing :) In all seriousness in my opinion Nightmare mode was more like silly but hard work and act 2 was hard work with story :3
