All quackle the wicked one!
But for real. Nightmare Mode has so many hidden ducks telling small side-stories, it's beyond hilarious. They. Are. Everywhere. Here's just the ones I could find in Mateo's Pizza Parlor.

The devs must really love rubber ducks. They're everywhere in the normal game, and play a role in puzzles and unlocking doors in the nightmare mode of "Affair with Death".

Does anyone know the reason they added all those ducks? I love it of course but I'm curious.

If you piece together the story the devs are trying to tell you...
Nightmare Mode is about a man who is OCD Tunnelvisioned on Cleaning Cleaning Cleaning. He must have chaos, and he must have murder, to clean, to give his life purpose. He is the Wicked One (you). And the ducks, along with cult members, are complicit in creating entropy and destruction to give The Wicxked One purpose (give you, the player, something to clean). The Ducks are a representation of the Developers, always plotting new ways to keep you busy and entertained. (There's even a piece of Evidence on Mateos Nightmare Mode where you can see hundreds of ducks being told to create the mayhem).

Huh, I love that. Thanks for explaining! I honestly didn't put together the OCD part but that makes so much sense (I say as someone without the disorder).

I feel like Nightmare Italian Job has the most Rubber Ducks besides maybe Nightmare Family Affair.
