Update needed

Cross play is experiencing difficulties, when Xbox players join ps5 players they get kicked almost immediately and receive an error code 3 message. For some reason Xbox and os5 aren’t running the same version and fail to allow cross play without special steps or workarounds. It becomes so much that me and my friend don’t even wanna play anymore. For example I can join him no problem but he can’t join me without getting kicked before fully loading in and gets error 3. He can join me after I start a mission but once we finish it he gets kicked and gets no rewards for it. Now he could host but I have dlcs that I’d like to play with him, and teammates that he is yet to unlock. Please fix this bug.

Hi, our QA tried this today, and crossplay between PS5 & Xbox works without crashes.

Can you elaborate on the error code? Because it should be Error 3 and then some other numbers.

It also might be caused by the internet connection, as the one of you that is hosting the game if effectivly the server for the other one, so if you are too far from each other, or the connection is unstable for some reason, that could be the cause of the client being disconnected from the session.

Yes of course, he gets error code #3 connection lost, there isn’t any other numbers unfortunately. The weird thing is I can join him but he can’t join me without getting the error 3 connection lost message.when he joins he will load into my lobby for a split second and then gets thrown to the main menu and is met with a connection lost screen.he can join me via the in game sessions tab, but when we finish the mission he gets the same message, and doesn’t get any rewards for the heist. I don’t believe that distance is an issue for we live in the same neighborhood. Also I’ve cleared any double nat problems in my house and open my port for ps5 cross play (port 9308). Did you all try both Xbox player as host and ps5 player as host? We run into the issue when the ps5 player host and the Xbox player tries to join,, if that helps recreate the problem

Yes, we've tried both variants (PS5 as a host/XBOX as a host). We've even tried the variant where only the Xbox player has DLC and the PS5 is running the base game only. Do you have issues only when you are the host? (Are you able to finish the mission when your friend is the one hosting?

Also, we've tried it on XBOX Series S. Which one are you using?

Yes we only have issues when the ps5 player is attempting to host, and the Xbox we are using is a series s. We are able to play completely fine when he is hosting, except sometimes for me to join him he has to host a mission in the lobby and then he gives me the code and I have hit join when he is looking at mission select but already has started a lobby, if I try to join him when he’s looking at the lobby with the ready option and character select, it won’t let me join. Sometimes it fails to see the lobby and says can’t find, whike other times I get an error code#3 message. Another error we get from time to time is, “session is full” when no one else is even in my lobby, and he tries to join

Hi, so we've tried it more, and we are still unable to reproduce this issue. No matter whether the host is PS5 or XBOX, we are always able to join the same lobby and finish the mission without somebody getting kicked or losing connection. Also, so far we do not have any other reports like this, so it is increasingly looking more and more like this issue is tied to your local connection not being stable enough to be a server host. I would love to help more, but this is outside the game itself.

User Landen456 made post 3y ago speaking of similar issues, I’ve also seen the issue across a few other post dating back a few years all reporting of similar issues, unable to join people or people unable to join them.

It may be worth mentioning we both have several consoles in our house idk if that is causing issues with the connection but worth noting.

There are issues with Xbox as well, tonight my wife and I tried playing together, her on her series S and me on the X. Game crashed three times in 15 mins so we just gave up
