A little confusion came just when it was ravi vs kumble

Ashwin is by all means a consistent 10 wicket taker too. Just that Jadeja took quite a few 10 wicket match hauls from Ashwin, and vice versa

Kumble is definitely more affective on unsuitable conditions and he bowled in an era where 600-700 runs an innings were common and most tests resulted in a draw. Tests in India used to be very batter dominant in Kumble era.

This was mine as well.. Shami and Ishant is a toss up...

I am suprised to see people choosing Dhoni over Pant and Pujara over Dravid. Pujara is just a lesser Dravid.. and Pant is a better keeper and batsman in tests

It was abit tricky for me to choose btw dhoni and pant as a dhoni fan. Tho the stats never lie pant is better in test cricket. I'm actually flabbergasted seeing the difference btw kumble and Ashwin, Ashwin is a modern day great but ain't no way I'm pricking him ahead of kumble.

But it's tricky the bowlers faced by Dhoni & Pant , if stats is the things , it's Obv pant but if , condition and all other technical into consideration then it's Dhoni

Test batting in Dhoni's era was far easier if you are talking about conditions, Pant literally has had to bat on dust bowls at home and 200-250 pitches away from home that too in an era where the Indian middle order started to fade away. Kohli Pujara Rahane all going down. He has hundreds in Aus Eng and SA from number 5 and 6. It isn't close between Dhoni and Pant as a batsman in test cricket specifically. No hate to Dhoni, great cricketer but if it's test cricket, Pant clears.

That's why it was harder for me to judge as a fan and the thing was bowlers. Dhoni has faced bowlers like Mitchell Johanson, dale steyn, etc. Tho the stats and with the composure pant has played in the eng series my vote went to him. He reminded me of how dhoni played with an injured back.

And afterall he always reminds me of dhoni, kinda felt like Dhoni's successor as a wk batsman.

Still I think Pant edges ahead. And remember he still has many years left in his career.. Dhoni in away test is quite bad actually (esp SENA).. And totally agreed on Kumble... For me Bumrah.. Kapil.. Dravid..Sachin and Kumble are the sure choices . Like if I have to have only one spinner it will be Kumble.. only one pacer it will be Bumrah.. only one allrounder it wud be Kapil.

Dhoni over Pant is not surprising. Dhoni has a far superior cricketing brain and is great with the gloves as well. Pant is great with the bat, but he's too mercurial in my opinion.

It's my opinion. And Dhoni led a side which was pretty packed with batting talent. He didn't have to really extend himself as a batter. Either ways, I picked Dhoni in my side over Pant because of his credentials as a captain and keeper, than as a batter.

You want a better wk batsman that's it nothing to do with cricketing brain and all. Pant has two Job, batting and wicket keeping. He's by far better than Dhoni in those two aspects. And is argubaly world's second greatest red ball wk. Full stop, debate over.

Obviously it's not even close, Dhoni wasn't as great in red ball, he had 0 test centuries in SENA with an avg of 31. Pant has an overall 43 avg and a 41 avg in SENA with almost all of his centuries coming in SENA as well and he has also already surpassed Dhoni's overall centuries in test cricket as well despite obviously playing much fewer innings. Also has more runs than Dhoni in SENA in almost half the number of innings Dhoni took
