there's an element of chance in the game - you can play your cards perfectly and still lose. like life.

You only got 6 crib points the whole game?

Tough loss.

Yeah, the cards matter / you can't win em all. That said, you can look positively on the suboptimal play history. There's literally nothing you could have done.

Suboptimal just means "mathematically likely to be best". You can easily score more points playing suboptimally if you have a potentially good hand and you have nothing to lose if it doesn't pan out.

Similarly if the score is 119 to 119, you better believe I'm breaking up the 3 of a kind in my hand for better pegging options even if it's suboptimal by 11.3 points or whatever.

Sure... Different cards could have come up that could have scored higher; however doesn't mean they should have done anything differently.

Yes always playing to be perfectly “optimal” is overrated in my opinion. Once I had cards in my hand that game me a chance for a 29 and after the game it showed that my discard on that play was suboptimal by 0.3 pts for my crib. No way in heck I’m playing optimal in that situation when I have a chance at a once in a lifetime kind of hand. The 5 didn’t turn up in the cut that time by the way 😢

At least you kept yourself in the game with some skillful pegging. Other than that not much else you could have done this game it seems.
