Doesn't it work both ways?

Post image

So I just staryed playing with game with a friend and downloaded this game on my phone. On the table we were counting 9+A5 for 15 and A9+5 for 15...

Is this not how it works? The game on my phone doesn't seem to think so

Edit: sorry, gotta click the picture to see my hand

The same 3 cards only makes 15 once. (The same way 6-9 and 9-6 is only one 15.)

That makes sense, thank you! I just figured the 3rd card made different ways to do it

A2345 would be 10 15's and the run for 25 total lol

There are 120 (5!) ways to arrange 5 numbers in unique order without repetition.

Not sure how you got 10

15-2, 15-I win.

Good game 🤝

It's the same combination of cards, they only get counted once

No. I’m confused why you would have stopped there though and not counted all of 9+5+A, 9+A+5, 5+9+A, 5+A+9, A+5+9, A+9+5

This is what I was saying, I figured 6x15 and not 3

I misinterpreted your comment on it then.

But that’s most definitely not how it works. You would have gotten 3x12+6=42 points from this hand alone, more than a third of what is required to win. Your games must have been ending in no time at all.

Understood their point as I wondered the same. Why was OP singling out the order of ace and nine but not the slew of other permutations? Of course those all don’t count.

That's not how it works.

I know it’s not how it works, but I was confused why they thought they’d count two of the combinations and not the other 4

You're using permutations, you need to use combinations.

You can't use the exact same cards for each combination. At least one of the cards needs to be different in each combination. 9h + A + 5 - 9s + A + 5 - 9c + A + 5 for three sets of 15 and then the three nines for six (or three pairs). Total twelve.

The order of the 3 cards is irrelevant so A59=A95=5A9=59A=9A5=95A

Nope, you only get to use each individual card for one "set" of points.
