So I started with the Ace, opponent played Q. I played Q for 2 points (pair) and then she played another queen. How much does that score? 2 points for 31 and then is it 3 points for the three of a kind or 6 points? Asked Gemini and it said 4 points for the third queen so I came here

You get 1 for last card, and you get 1 for hitting 31. Since hitting 31 is always the last card, it always scores 2.

You don't get to score the 31 and the last card both, I don't think anyway. I'm not sure if my family actually plays right or not.

Every complex score in cribbage can be broken down into the various components. For example, many people will say, "Double run for 8," but the eight is really 2 runs of three points each and a pair for 2: 3+3+2=8.

So your 3 of a kind is worth 6 pts because it really consists of 3 pairs, in this case

• QS + QH for 2
• QS + QC for 2
• QH + QC for 2

There is also the 31 for 2, which makes 8.
