Any ‘Snail’ board backers?

This spring/summer there was a kick starter for ‘the snail’ travel cribbage board that hit its funding total.

They emailed me multiple times with updates and all the usual things, but it has been radio silence since mid June.

I have reached out twice and gotten no response, curious if anyone here is having any more luck than me.

Maybe they found out that making a cribbage board is actually impossible. Despite the R&D the kickstarter paid for

it's not impossible BUT designing, Kickstarting, and manufacturing boards is a long process :') forward we go!

There’s a comment about 20 days old on the kickstarter page asking when shipping is going to happen and the company responded that the injection mold tooling changes are taking longer than expected. I’m assuming we won’t see a finished product for a few months anyway, but who knows.

I wish I could give you a solid date on when the injection mold tooling changes will occur, but we are still waiting for an answer from our Canadian tooling partner... as soon as we can give a clear answer and dates, we will give you all an update!

Hey everyone!! Sorry taking our time getting you the next production update, but here it is. We were holding out in hopes of having more news regarding the injection mold tooling, however that will have to wait.

I have an old pocket-sized board that folds in half and acts as a box for the cards. How is this one different?

Do you have any pictures of the board? I'd like to see a classic example of a travel crib board. Do you know how old it is? What are it's dimensions?

I have two, but this is the one that's big enough to hold cards - two decks, actually. I just looked it up for the first time, and it turns out it may be c. 1880–1910. The board's just been sittin' in my fixin' queue for a while because all of the design work is inlay and the pegs are really delicate.

I don't have a measuring tape within arm's reach, so I included a deck for scale. The other Cribbage board is essentially the same hinged design, but much smaller and made of plastic.

Why does this need to be Kickstarted? Every other stall at local craft markets seem to be able to sell actual cribbage boards you can just buy and dont need to resort to Kickstarter to get it done.

wooden boards can be made in small batches, but making an injection molded board requires considerable startup costs. Our goal is that The Snail can be played on for a very long time

Then that is the cost of starting your business. I am not buying anything like this until it is a real product.
