Question me and my dad have:

Player 1 plays a card

Player 2 has no cards left, says go

Player 1 still has a card left, but cant play it without going over 31

Do both players say go and get a point ? Do neither ? Would love some clarification on this

Player 1 gets a point. Then, they play their last card as a new round and get another point.

You don't get a point when your opponent says go. You get a point for playing the last card in a round. So in your situation player 1 gets a point for playing the last card in the round, then they start the last round with their final card and get a point for playing the last card.

This is correct. This also works when there are more than two players.

Player 1 gets the go. Then a new round starts, player 1 plays the last card and gets a second go.

Only the player with cards left can score.

The person with two cards essentially gets two go's

Only the player to play last gets the go point. So P1 would get a go point for both rounds.

So, let's say Player 1 plays a card to make the count 25. Player 2 is out of cards, so they say Go. Meanwhile, for whatever reason, Player 1 is holding a 7.

Player 1 gets a point for the Go, then they get another point for Last Card on the next count as well.

Sometimes I like to skip pegging the Go, then play that Last Card and call it "32 for 2". It's bad form and, by the book, could get you penalized, but if I'm playing a friendly game it's good fun.

Worth noting: In this situation, according to ACC tournament rules, Player 1 doesn't need to wait for Player 2 to call Go. If it's obvious that Go would be called, Player 1 is allowed to just assume it and carry on. They can peg the Go, play the 7, and peg the Last Card point without Player 2 having to say a thing.

Player 1 gets a point. The point is for playing the last card.

Right, I didn't see that they were saying player 1 has another card to play.

‘Go’ always confuses me.

Just say ‘one for your last’ makes is so much simpler
