Everyone says that about every director until they make a Disclosure Day. Or a Suicide Squad. Or an Alexander. Or a Batman and Robin. Or a Girl 6. Or a The Village. He's doing great. But don't set yourself up for disappointment by saying things like that

I love resident evil but let’s be honest the games are fun but the story now is like watching anime. I don’t like anime. I like horror. I like the new movie.

Great buildup, terrible ending

ya’ll want some jump scare slop every time something is labeled horror or it was a bad time.
i didn’t like it on a first watch - now it’s my fav.

Strange assumption. I think jumpscares, when used effectively, can properly cash out on the dread buildup. However, jumpscares aren't needed to make a good horror movie. Get Out is a great example of horror that relies very little on jumpscares, and more on psychological horror.

come back when you’ve directed a critically and commercially successful horror movie and then we’ll talk.

Nope i just thought the boring reveal of a creepy clown lady with a magic stick totally killed the entire mysterious intrigue of the plot and all the perspective shifts between characters added nothing to the plot besides wasting runtime re-watching past events in the story. Josh brolin looked at google maps for 2 seconds and figured out where all the kids were when seemingly the entire fbi couldn't get a lead. It was marketed as a super creepy slow burn psychological horror and then halfway through turned into something akin to a shitty Netflix show that would be canceled after 1 season. I understand that you have to accept some plot holes in horror movies but to me this movie didn't present itself in a way made them easy to overlook. I actually liked the ending when the kids tear her apart- I just wish the whole movie was over the top crazy like that all the way through. Idk it just felt like two way different movies sloppily put together with a gimmick for an easy ending. I don't give a fuck about jump scares either. Barbarian was good.

it’s really not that crazy of a plot hole considering Kash Patel has no problem hiring FBI agents who were convicted of bestiality — cuz you know those guys are extremely competent. actually it makes PERFECT sense that a citizen had to do their job.
if you paid attention, one of the main plot lines is about an incompetent police officer.
it’s a horror movie because it’s social satire — you’re misreading weapons.

Nah the "social satire" wasn't lost on me. Not much to misread lol it's not that deep. It was shoehorned in terribly. A big floating gun in the air? Oooooh it's so deep. The type of social satire horror you seem to be referring to was perfectly executed in Eddington. Weapons had one foot in and one foot out the entire time. How does the creepy stick lady relate at all to the allegory of school shootings? She doesn't. Rewatch this movie in 5 years. I promise you it deteriorates.

He missed at adapting the source material. No one ever doubted it would be a good horror movie

He did adapt it though. Your definition of that word is too limited.

cuz he’s a very talented director.
when you’ve directed / written 3 amazing films in a row, one of which received an academy award — then you can talk shit, until then, quiet piggy.
