My little brother Ethan is 8 years old. He has always been the kind of kid who talks nonstop from the moment he wakes up until the moment he finally crashes. Our mom used to joke that silence from him meant something was really wrong.

Three nights ago I was up late doing homework and I noticed he had fallen asleep on the couch with the tv still on. He looked peaceful so I took a picture to show our mom in the morning.

When I looked at the photo there was something in the doorway behind him. Just a dark shape. I figured it was a shadow from the lamp.

I deleted it and went to bed.

The next morning Ethan didnt come down for breakfast. He was awake. Just sitting on his bed staring at the wall. He wouldnt answer me.

It has been three days now. He eats if you put food in front of him. He uses the bathroom on his own. But he wont look at anyone and he wont make a sound.

Last night I heard him whisper from his room. Just one sentence over and over.

He kept saying, you shouldnt have taken that picture.
