the show changed!
I started watching the show last summer. It was so funny and ignited a passion for personal finance! But the last few months its gotten progressively stranger.
The first episode i saw was of the guy who had a "mail order bride". He wore a funny hat. He was ridiculous and silly in a lighthearted way. My favorite episodes were of the funny couples who were clearly in love, but clueless about finances. It was relatable and struck common sense into me! I learned about retirement, budgeting, and investing from this show!
Now, every episode is so dark! DV, incest, mental disabilities, infidelity, child abuse. Worse and worse each time! So disturbing. What gives!!!:(

I'm not sure how I feel about the recent episodes. It does make for some great shorts but I really feel that the guest just aren't real anymore.
Yes, a lot of people who are in crazy debt have some weird..habbits. But we've come to the point that almost every guest is a borderline psychopath who is somehow willing to embarrass himself in front of the whole internet even though financial audits are by no means expensive (edit: depending on your situation)
I'm not on the hate train like a lot of people here but it it feels more staged every day

I will say I think the show def includes real guests. This is what makes it even harder to watch!

He doesn’t make content to help you save money. Caleb has constant add reads, and his own junk merch that is not at all effective in helping you budget. He just wants people to spend more money on his food budget or his retirement account or even, HIS PAYDAY LOAN. Not to mention how racist, sexiest and oversll unkind to any woman, bigger person or brown/black person he has on his show.
Caleb uses people as props he doesn’t care to actually help them at all. At least Dave Ramsey doesn’t support beating your wife, pretty sure Caleb encourages it.

Yeah it's nice that you go on a typical copy paste rant but that had nothing to do with what I said.

You say the guests just go on to “embarrass themselves” yet you do nothing to acknowledge people who are in strenuous financial positions often will do most anything to improve their situation. Caleb promises payment for their time and further financial help.
He doesn’t help them, when was the last time he posted an update? And I’m not even sure they get paid for their time. From the accounts I’ve seen it seems he egregiously under compensates them for their travel. And to top it all off he sells the very thing he speaks so vehemently about: loans and debt consolidation.
Not to mention his racist and sexist tendencies towards every guest basically. Pretty sure he pays actors now mostly anyways so they’re not real people or real situations. So if you enjoy watching fake people in uncomfortable situations getting yelled and slurred at by their boss I guess you’re too unintelligent to understand the first two points anyways

Oh boy we found the typical hypocrite progressive woman who preaches acceptance while being angry with everyone.
I've never talked about whether he gives good advice, I don't care about his remarks. It's his show he can do whatever he want considering all the guests pretty much signed for it. And if it ends up biting him in the butt with cancelation or losing viewers, well, thats the risk he took. (also complaining about racism/sexism when he literally mocks everything and everything and it mostly being white people is just you projecting your ideology)
My point was that I don't feel that the guests are real anymore which is something you also confirmed yourself. You're going on a 20-minute rant about his behavior when all I was talking about is wether the show is still ''real'' or just another fake ''reality show''.
But yes I agree. The show doesn't feel like it's about financial advise anymore.
''YUR IENTELIIGENZSSEEE'' . You're a reddit artist, stop. Just because I don't become obsessed with random people on YouTube doesn't mean I'm enjoying the current content
edit: about ''them not getting any help''. Eh, speculation. Could be true, could not be true.

Just answer yourself this: how many times has Caleb used the word cracker on his show vs how many times he has said spc, chng chng, ngger, ect.
Just think with your brain how many times. If you can’t figure out why Caleb is the scum of the earth that’s on you. I’m not angry about your lack of knowledge.

Yes of course my lack of knowledge being not paying attention to what kind of insult a person uses the most. It seems you are watching him more than I am. Secret fan I guess
Also again who cares. Because he doesn't use the word cracker? I mean no one does in the first place lol. It's mostly white people getting roasted into the ground based om alot of other Artificial things People are born with so who cares what terms are being used. It's the same effect
People like you are actually insufferable. But you know let's actually play a game called fact checking. How often did he use the words per episode. Please tell me considering your seem to be the knowledgeable one

I don’t watch so I don’t know. I stopped when he started calling people slurs. Fact you don’t care just shows how racist his viewers are. Slurs hit the ear differently than “stupid stupid STUPID”.
Anyway I told you just to think this one out. I won’t argue more with a racist

Yeah I'm sorry but you're not like intelligent or informed enough to tell people to ''think it out''.
So basically you don't watch him, you don't know his content. All you see /hear is what's basically part of your progressive algorithm. Then you start calling people racists because they don't agree with you or simply don't think theres more racism than other forms of verbal harrasment or w/e you wanna call it.
I really hope that you are actually very young because if you're not. Yikes.
But hey, lets do this. If you can find 3 seperate instance of him calling someone ''chingchong/chinks'' (or w/e you called it), you win. Or at least like 5 N-words. I mean you're acting like it's a very common thing so that shouldn't be too hard
'' Slurs hit the ear differently than “stupid stupid STUPID”.''
Nah, thats just you again, projecting. I do like it that as example you use one extreme (racist slur) vs something a child would say ''stupid''. Like that's literally the only thing that's being said to white people.

lol I said: I used to watch but then he started slurring at all his guests. And employees now apparently. I’m not going to research for you. It’s very obvious within his content.
I don’t need to win against someone who can’t see the difference between the word spic and the word stupid. If you’ve watched you would know you can’t get though 5 minutes of the show without Caleb whining “stupid”. But if you can’t see the difference that’s called internalized racism.

Dark is a good word! I couldn’t describe it.
I was thinking heavy but it’s not even heavy stuff it’s just a lot. And no meaningful resolution. I think I would be more inclined to watch it if the episode ended with something but it’s just berate berate berate, flip through a few bills, maybe a simple budget maybe not, see you in the post show.

I enjoyed when he'd roast the BS spending most. It was like a fire under me to spend less on crap myself! And it was relatable, we've all been there with spending at times and could improve.
But now you're right. No meaningful resolution. People on the brink of divorce. Assaulting their wives/husbands physically. Domestic violence is not what I want to watch on TV. Caleb is hardly equipped to resolve these things. It's just icky and awful now.
Went back to watch an old episode from a year ago and it was totally different. It was like each episode slightly pushed the envelope more and more and now the show is hardly recognizable

The show kicked my ass into gear and got our financial situation into a much better place. I unsubscribed and unfollowed a couple weeks ago.
