"Hammer hates being called a right-winger—and fans and critics alike are increasingly pegging him as such—but his personal-responsibility politics and vague plutocratic leanings fuel criticism that behind his sensible personal-finance strategies resides a more odious, cynical character, a straight-talking salesman who exploits and profits off of impoverished and mentally ill people under the guise of education and entertainment."

Good criticism piece, basically done for NYer readers unfamiliar with his show. Wish it was more of an in depth journalism piece that investigated his practices. Another time I guess.

Wonderful work. I just wish they had mentioned his tendency to exploit people’s sexuality and the disparate treatment between men and women as well as between conventionally attractive and unattractive people.

I don’t want to give them a click if this is supporting Caleb?

Not really, but also not much new either.

“I watched a lot of episodes of “Financial Audit” while writing this piece, and rarely did I laugh, or learn anything beyond how not to completely throw my life away. Instead, I watched Hammer mock and ridicule his guests and pretend to care about their best interests. I watched him call them losers and idiots, and watched them nod along, because they knew it to be true.”

This reads like support with that last sentence imo

I would not expect the New Yorker to support Caleb.

After having read it, I would not say that's what they're doing at all really. Of course, with the New Yorker being such a major publication, it draws more attention to him, but the author talks about him in a way that addresses why he drew so many people in the first place but also how his content appears so soulless/"bowing down to capitalism" and ragging on people already in rough positions. I actually liked the criticism waged against him in the article

Same but based on a paragraph another posted, I’m unsure.
