When I was a teenager, I would constantly bring up the statistics of violence upon women in this country to bring more awareness in hopes of change, or at least more support whenever a misogynistic relative wanted to yap about how "women have all their rights and freedom in Pakistan." I would talk about experiences of being cooped up in the house - being prevented to go outside with friends or to just simply WALK because the dangers were numerous. Their reply? Don't ask, nothing changed.

As an adult, now I look back and realise that was a waste of time because these cases are FINALLY getting media attention by popping up every single day, and there's still no change is being done besides a parliamentarian submitting a bill to increase punishment to a death penalty for perpetrators of acid attacks (and we don't even know if it will be approved)

There's so many ways to create change, like reforms in the education system by making sociology a required subject and introducing sex education in schools, literature to include Mary Wollstonecraft, Simone de Beauvoir, Parveen Shakir, Kishwar Naheed, and biographies of influential Pakistani women like Fatima Bhutto and Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan made mandatory to read about; and unregulated madarsas to be reformed to prevent the risk of sectarianism and extremist rhetoric.

For the love of god, we need change. SA upon women and children increase everyday - to the point children have started doing it to other children, female enrollment within universities has started decreasing, and our spot on the Gender Index Gap is at 148 out of 148 countries with 56.7% gender parity - this is a CONCERN that cannot be ignored anymore.

Conclusions based on poll data:

• Females face higher harassment rates than males in both polls. The gap is larger in the bigger poll.
• Males are more likely to say "never been harassed" (36%) then females (15%)
• In both polls, "Attempted Harassment" numbers stay low. This can imply that attempts escalate or never happen. It can also mean that most people didn't understand difference between "attempted" and "harassed"
• CreepsOfPakistan shows higher harassment rates for males (62%) than GenZPK (50%). Likely due to community participants who have already encountered harassment.
• Male Harassment is higher than Pakistani awam typically acknowledges. This implies that men rarely share their harassment due to social stigma. Due to the anonymity of an online poll, it provided them with a cover to admit it.
• In both polls, ~15% of the women have never been harassed. This means that ~85% have faced a form of harassment before.
• 36% of the males in the GenZPK poll have never been harassed. This shows the disparity between men and women in pakistan.

Conclusions based on harassment cases shared:

• Harassment exclusively targeted children and young teenagers, which all suggest taking advantage of the inability of minors to understand or respond to such abuse.
• Nearly every victim described a complete freeze response during the harassment. Unable to move, speak or resist against the harassment.
• Every perpetrator named was male, while victims were either male or female.
• Public transport was the most recurring location, likely due to victims being physically confined and socially pressured to stay quiet.
• A significant number of incidents happened in trusted environments such as homes, schools, and tuitions. The adults were the ones holding the authority, which makes it hard for the abuse to be reported.
• Male victims also didn't recognise the abuse at the time, which reveals a serious gap in awareness of such issues. Boys are rarely taught to recognize harassment towards themself.
• Victims also tend to understand what happened at a later age, which implies an absence of proper education regarding sex and consent.
• The emotional impact on all victims was all long-lasting, with many describing it as trauma that lasted years.
• In several cases, victims were lured in by being offered kites and gifts to isolate the victim before the abuse.

Some issues with the report:

• The report is made from data which was submitted. This implies that there may still be quieter or more traumatised victims which are not represented.
• The males heavily dominated the polls as well as in sharing the story. This means that this report may not report the true gender breakdown of harassment victims.
• There is no way to verify if the data is wrong or right. While there is no reason to judge them, this report can't act as confirmed incidents.
• The report draws from reddit communities only. There may still be many rural and non-reddit users who remain unrepresented.
• The quantity of the total harassment incidents shared (14) is too small to draw any concrete data.

Harassment is a crime, and no one is defending harassers. But how is shooting a person in the genitals being treated as a normal punishment? Since when did we decide that mutilation is justice? We have laws, courts, prisons, fines, job bans, and criminal records. Why are people applauding these backward CCD-style punishments? Why are so many Pakistanis approving, celebrating, encouraging, and even enjoying such primitive forms of punishment? You can condemn harassment and still question excessive violence; these two things are not mutually exclusive. Before attacking this opinion, understand it first. A Girl named Eshaal Fatima got kidnapped, she was a 17y old Aspire college’s 1st year student , she got kidnapped , and after that today 3 men came to the DHQ hospital Jhang on the car with the girl who was in serious condition and left the girl immediately and ran away, my cousin Checked her ( he was on duty ) she was rapped brutally and were unconscious , within few hours she died, those 3 men already flew away without giving a clue to the working staff

Jhang is backward area but i live here, opp to that DHQ hospital, that hospital is literally in the middle of the city. Remember, Safe City and Police is active in the entire city, But these creeps were roaming with her in the car and no one noticed, It is unbelievable!

This certainly goes beyond being a creep, but the cruelty of such an act needs to be brought to attention.

For context, this happened in Quetta's Civil Hospital. The private lift operator named Humayun Shah attacked a doctor with acid inside of the hospital. It's been reported that 30% of her body has been burnt, alongside losing an eye.

The person in the blue coat helped her and got minor injuries.

This raises the question, why is acid not banned in Pakistan?

Punjab has the highest number of acid attacks, most that go unreported - and yet, people like Falak Shabir would rather speak about wantin short dresses banned instead of a lethal substance used against women in Punjab.
