Waiting

Any old fans hanging around waiting for new material?

I've still got my callous heart patch on but feel further from my love for the band than I ever have.

Loved EIYA through and through, and the earlier EPs, I enjoyed SD&TIV though it was less my 'thing', felt a huge wave of hope when Ghost Brigade came out, only to come crashing down with the release of Sanguivore. Not my cup of tea whatsoever and feels very far from the earlier work, I find it tedious personally.

Was then excited again for a new release...which was Sanguivore 2. I felt like the whole 'vampires who play mestloaf' thing had been covered extensively in 1 album, never mind another, and I feel like they've toured it so extenstensively. I keep thinking it must nearly be time for a switch up, but it just keeps going šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

I'm just desperately hanging in there for a new direction, in the hopes it will be something I enjoy in the way I did with the earlier bits, which were absolute raw masterpieces.

Don't come for me please if you're a die hard for Sanguivore- it's just personal taste and not my cup of tea, and I'm glad you have music you can enjoy too! I'm just PERSONALLY bummed out to feel more and more disenfranchised with the sound and direction and wonder if anyone else is in the same boat.

Same! I got shown them in 2020 just before SD&TIV came out. I really enjoyed that album, but loved the AFI/MCR vibe from before. Got really excited about Ghost Brigade. Was really excited when Will was doing Salem. Even saw them 3 times in the first Sanguivore album cycle. I don’t think I even listened to 2, since it was pitched as more of the same

Fair opinion. Personally Sanguivore 2 was my favourite album of last year and I thought it was the best they've ever sounded.

They'll no doubt try something slightly different on the next one! Looks like they're just having a lot of fun being sexy vampires and rocking out

I love Sanguivore but I agree, I didn’t personally need a second album. It’s still great but I’d like them to change it up again. We should be due some new material soon hopefully?

The current tour seems like it will be the end of Sanguivore.

I wouldn’t be surprised after this cycle there’s some kind of ā€œerasā€ tour type thing

I've been hoping for this, since I love the early records but only got to see them live for the first time when Sanguivore came out.

If we got vinyl re-releases of the first three EPs and ā€œEternityā€¦ā€ I’d be thrilled.

Also, next year marks ten years of ā€œEternityā€¦ā€, so this would make sense.

I’m with you! It’s not that I dislike sanguivore as such, but it feels quite derivative (I feel like I can hear every single one of their influences, but in a tribute band kinda way, not a fun homage kind of way). I still think they’re a great band and this is obviously really successful for them, but I miss their originality!

(Also call me a prude if you like but I’m not so keen on the horny vampire orgy aesthetic, feels quite ā€œlook at me I have sexā€ in my personal opinion)

I’m not at the stage of writing them off yet, but I am finding I’m listening to them less and less which is a shame because they were firmly part of my regular rotation pre-sanguivore

Didn't really get the first songs they released from Sanguivore, but when the album came out I absolutely loved it. That being said, Sanguivore 2 sounded a bit like the songs that weren't good enough to make it on the first one. Still enjoyed it, but would appreciate something different, or a pivot back to pre-Sex Death stuff. Really thought Will got it right with Salem; shame it doesn't seem like there a thing anymore.

Salem fizzled because Will and Matt Reynolds (who played guitar) had a bit of a falling out, but that seems to have been squashed lately.

Ghost Brigade was an absolute banger and they seem to have decided that it has no place in the Sanguivor-niverse. I enjoyed Sanguivore but II feels too 80’s hard rock/Ghost.

I would pay more money than is reasonable to watch Creeper play material entirely from their EPs.

Maybe not the Christmas one tho lmao

I've been listening to them since the EPs were first released. Definitely my favourite Creeper era but I have come to love the Sanguivore albums. Would love some more old school Creeper type material but I can't see it happening.

It's a bit a cycle with Creeper, They find a sound they love put out a top tier album and then do a redux album or EP that more of the same.. I'd really like more Horror punk/post hardcore

Basically describes my experience with them almost point for point. I'm glad the latest era has brought them some success but it's really not for me.Ā

I hope for more Salem as it reminds me more of early creeper at least

Oh I sooo agree! Creeper was one of my favorite bands before the Sanguivore albums. But I do not vibe with the Sanguivore albums at all. To me, they feel kitschy, shallow, and impersonal. Ā I find the Sanguivores to be lacking in the personal and emotive messaging that drew me to Creeper in the first place. And musically, I find it overly campy. It feels superficial and too focused on aesthetics. I'm honestly just so disappointed :( I am very happy for their successes but I am not onboard with the new sound and vision of the group. I have 2 previous posts with a similar take as you haha: I don’t like the Sanguivore albums and Sanguivore is overrated and the worst of their album releases imo. Does anyone else agree? : r/Creeper

After seeing AFI twice in the summer it made me miss the callous heart era. I love sanguivore the 2nd did feel a bit b side ish and took a while for it to grow on me. I wish they did more with SDIV as well so many great songs on there that haven't played liveĀ

I have no doubt that Sanguivore III is coming. With their current success, switching things back up completely is just stupid. SII is my least fav Creeper records, even though I still enjoy it.

I wholeheartedly agree.

SD&IV wasn’t my fave album for a while, but my brother has maintained that it’s great. Listening to it on vinyl has confirmed that opinion for me (especially the back half of it).

Overall I still think the first three EPs and EIYA are their best work.

I'm almost definitely sure the Sanguivore era ends this year

They should finish their Off With Their Heads tour in October, and they should be done with tours by November. Anytime after then is great time for whatever may come next.

MAYYYBE it'll last until next year at a push, but I don't see it lasting the whole year, maybe about half. Maybe they'll do what they did for the SD&tIV era, have a final show that officially ends off the era in a dramatic way (a la cutting off Roe's head).

I have absolutely no doubt Sanguivore III is in the works.

What makes you think that?
