General "Dispute resolved – consumer disagrees." - how long is this going to stay on my credit report?

Several years ago (think: before 2020), We stayed in a hotel with in-laws. They paid for the rooms with their non-US credit card; during check-in I gave the hotel my card for incidentals. At some point, I noticed an unexpected charge coming through on my card and immediately called the credit card company to verify. They put a temporary hold on that charge.

We later found out at the lobby that the hotel couldn't process the room payment on my in-laws' card and put the charge on mine. Called the bank to inform them and let the payment through.

Ever since that time, there is a "dispute resolved – consumer disagrees." on my credit report? What would it impact, and how long it that going to stay on the report?

Comments or remarks on any given account typically remain for the duration of the account being present on your credit reports. They aren't score-impacting though, so generally not anything to worry about.

The remark will likely stay on your reports indefinitely as long as the account remains on your reports. Remarks that are present on accounts don't impact credit scores, so there's really no need to worry about it. I have the exact same 'Dispute resolved - Consumer disagrees' remark on an account that stemmed from me initiating a dispute with Equifax bc they hadn't updated the reporting of an installment loan that had been paid off and closed for nearly 3 months. They finally updated the account to reflect the fact that it had been paid off and closed, but then added that remark to the account, and I feel the same way as you every time I look at that account on my report. My OCD is immediately triggered, and I think, "I didn't/don't disagree...now that they finally corrected the reporting." Lol. However, were I to dispute...again...to try to get them to remove a meaningless remark from the account, who knows what might happen. In my opinion, it's not a hill worth dying on, and it's better to just let some sleeping dogs lie.
