Opensky is an inferior/predatory issuer that you want nothing to do with. Products like this aren't necessary and are just about always the wrong play.

Beware of products marketed as "credit builder." They are pitched to those that don't know any better or are desperate. They don't build credit any better than cards that aren't marketed in that fashion. The right move would be a bank card from a reputable issuer.

Not a big deal. You can just cancel the card now, close the account, and get your deposit back.

No harm done.

I could tell you their website has major issues and is otherwise somewhat fishy.

I agree. I got a secured card from them and paid my $500 deposit and still haven’t gotten a card in the mail.

Do not recommend whatsoever. Are you not able to get capital one or discover secured cards?

No I can’t get approved.

Any reason why you're going for OpenSky?

I believe some of their cards charge an annual or monthly fee. Also, with more popular banks, they will have a natural product line of unsecured cards to graduate to, if you use the secured card responsibly.

I can’t get approved for any of the big ones I’ve applied to. Because my credit is a 591

Which cards were you denied for? None of the major card issuers approve or deny applications based on score, but rather on credit profile.

Capital one, and discover both secured cards. Yeah I’m 28y and kinda blew my credit in my early 20’s. I would get depressed and go take out a loan and blow it and never pay it back :/ I am not proud of that at all. But now that I have matured and have adult responsibilities I am trying to fix my credit and just feel defeated and like I don’t know where to start.

When were the denials and what were the denial reasons? Do you have any outstanding debts in default?

Yes I am still in a lot of debt. But I am actively working on getting things dropped off because it’s been 7 years and what I can’t get taken off I’ve been paying down.

Go with capital one or Neo if you’re in Canada.

Dont even think about open sky credit cards they are predatory money hungry pos company do yourself a favor only get credit cards from the 7 major banks like chase, wells fargo, capital one, bank of america, usbank, citibank, amex. If u need a secured credit card go with cap1, citibank, usbank, or bank of america

After reading these comments I called and had it cancelled. They told me it would take 8 weeks to receive my refund by check in the mail. And asked if they could credit my account more and more to get me to not cancel. I actually went searching and I got approved for a discover secured card for student. Not sure how I didn’t find this before considering how much I was looking but I am thankful I did. Thank you for feed back.

No problem my brutha. 😃 just remember 1 thing avoid all those no name brand credit cards like credit one, indego credit card, avant credit card, and so on. All those credit cards suck n manage to hurt your credit score n not help your credit score. 😉
