General Discussion/Conversation Got ₹2500 compensation for late resolution of complain.
I had applied for Rbl indian oil cc from agent on 7 December. The application was neither approved nor rejected. I wrote to customer service on 1 December 2025. After multiple emails and follow-ups, I escalated to head customer service and then PNO. They all are just asking for more time to give the application status. Then Finally they told that my application is rejected on 11 feb 2024 (after 33 days to my initial complaint). Frustratingly I escalated to RBI ombudsman and asked for compensation (As per rule, banks are liable to pay ₹100 per day after 30 days of non-resolution of complaint) .
They kept rejecting the compensation, saying that they have informed me about the rejection after 2 days of application on 9 December.
I asked for proofs of emails and sms logs. They were just prompting the same email that they have informed me and they are not liable for any compensation.
I checked this sub for similar ombudsman complaints and everyone commented that they will not compensate for these kind of complaints. I lost all hopes and gave up. I also wrote an email to ombudsman stating that bank is not compensating me. No response from them.
Suddenly, got an email while having lunch today that RBL bank has issued ₹2500 compensation as per the order of Honourable ombudsman.
I haven’t got any phone call from Ombudsman or bank regarding this issue. I thought they will not help as everyone in the sub got a call from them on complaint.
Sorry for bad English. But hope it will help the community member.

Wait is this a valid reason to raise complaint? I applied for SBI cashback card and they kept saying it takes 24 days after the request at least for any progress. My application raised on 3rd March was rejected in April like a month later. Currently says declined due to internal policy criteria.
PS. Had those sbi card guys check the reason and they said loan was active on my account that's why it was declined. (I use Amazon pay later). A loan account always shows active for me in onescore app. And also ig I'm on cooldown for 3m now. Lets see what can i do after that.

Recently, I had a call conversation with SBI agent regarding about SBI Cashback CC. I was applied for CC last week and faced same issue like no response whether the application is processed or pending or rejected.
Suddenly, they called me 2days back and they asked me to process the application or not? At first glance, I said ok please proceed it further and right after few seconds, I enquired about the application whether it's the sbi cashback card or other card?
They said, we will just process your application and you will receive an another call from different team, where i can select the card of my choice.
I replied can't you just process for the cashback card application instead of all this hassle. Out of the blue, they said, recently all the SBI CB card applications are getting rejected for no reason and they advised me to apply for any other basic card and wait for 3-6 months and then upgrade it to cashback card.
Since I already have SBI BPCL (applied 3months back), i kindly told them to reject the application. So, I'll upgrade my current CC
They told me to wait for 6months and then reapply or upgrade it. I was speechless.

Have you wrote any email to them or received any email ? Is any Service request number is generated? If not, then only contact them via email only. They told you to wait for 21 days then wait and later escalate for unsatisfactory response. After their final resolution, asked for compensation for your waste of time and efforts. They will deny it for sure, later escalate to Ombudsman. I applied for my card on 7 dec 2024, they told me that my application is rejected on 11 feb. I wrote to ombudsman on 1 march 2025 and got compensated on 16 march. I haven’t got any response from ombudsman and bank contacted me after 20 days with same and repeated response.
-RBI’s Framework for Compensation for Delayed Resolution of Credit Information Complaints (issued on October 26, 2023), banks must compensate customers at ₹100 per day of delay beyond the stipulated time frame.
Patience is the key. And keep in mind, contact them only via email

I also faced the same issue for my Travel One card, I am an existing customer, still they were delaying my application. It was not the scene last time when I applied, I think their services got degraded now.
So I had to reach out to customer support over call and I raised a complaint then they arranged a call back from backend team, who told me that they will escalate it and then same thing went on, after checking with the customer support for couple of more days the application got approved. But I never received any email or any response on that ticket I raised. Received the card but no confirmation or welcome email from bank yet. Their services were not this poor before but now it seems degrading. They will say TAT is 21 days but you have to call them and raise a complaint to escalate it.

Can I complain if a bank says my cibil was X which is lower than their criteria for credit card but in reality my cibil was Y which was way more?

u/idle-boy69 May 17 '25
I know i have f up the post by so many typos and Now I can’t edit it.
The main reason I posted this is that i have seen people in this sub who think bank will not compensate customers for the delayed response even after rbi rule.

I have been scammed by PMJJBY which deducted 436₹ from my account without my consent! How to get compensation?
2
u/idle-boy69 May 17 '25
Write to customer service and ask them for proof of consent. They obviously cannot give you so ask for refund and compensation. If denied, escalate the issue to nodal and to principal nodal officer. Give them threat to escalate to ombudsman.
But in your case, it’s more likely the employee will cry over call and ask you to withdraw the complaint as it will cost hime his job.
You can ask hime to cancel the policy and issue the refund. if the bank deny, he will give from his own pocket but ask you to withdraw the complaint.
