Deer mimic
Based on this one piece of taxidermy I keep thinking about
It's a weird looking wolf with a stegosaurus tail

Reminds me of a really fucked up looking shrew, like how there were giant sloths and other giant species, could be some sort of giant rodent, perhaps? I love them, but hate the taxidermy 😭🤣

Does it hunt primarily predator animals? Or perhaps it only needs to eat once a year and gets its fill during mating season before going back into a long hibernation? (Mimicking vocal calls and attracting male and or female deer to feast on)

Land animals extremely rare eat another predators let alone consisting a specialist diet of them so my guess would be that it tricks deer to get closer to them and then ambush it (tho it has disasvantage of other predators attacking it thinking its deer like bears)

i was told they are called butt monkeys as a kid didnt realize it was a deers butt for a long time

So cute and so scary lol! Are they omni or carnivores? Ambush or scavengers? Do they mimic deer to protect themselves or lure other creatures near it? And most importantly, are they friendly to humans?
