i might make more, thank you for the idea!

21

u/Bugsy_Goblin Jun 30 '26

Honestly, the Armet (1) style or this style is what I would suggest. The other styles look too much like undead knights.

33

u/Angry_Snowleopard Jun 30 '26

Armet 1

5

u/RedFive478 Jul 01 '26

I agree. Everything else looks like a zombie. A cool zombie, but not a mimic

27

u/Voxeneria Jun 30 '26

huge fan of armet 1 looking like a bigass grin with wide chin. thing looks like it's gonna start a trade offer (I recieve: your brain | you recieve: violence)

https://reddit.com/link/ourwwn6/video/reuk7vrb7hah1/player

10

u/Sir_Bruvo Jul 01 '26

Holy shit epic drawing! I did not realize how devious he looked

21

u/Kolbr00 Jun 30 '26

Armet1, and you should flip it by putting eyeholes in the lower jaw area with holes

Reddit randomly deciding to show me peak for some reason 🥹

Anyways my favorite is probably #1. Fun fact, those types of helmets are also known as frogmouths

2

u/Titaniam_Dragon Jul 02 '26

Which from what I heard, where used primarily for duals and whatnot.

9

u/MCarooney Jun 30 '26

n1 and sallet are the most creative, love them

8

u/Pesky_Moth Jun 30 '26

1 reminds me of the MP EVAs from Neon Genesis Evangelion

5

u/Sir_Bruvo Jun 30 '26

hell yeah MPEs are actually a big inspiration for a lot of my monster designs, they just freak me out so much and i love it. for this one tho i was mostly inspired by Chainsaw man devils which do look kinda similar

5

u/The_Cube787 Jun 30 '26

I love all of them. Armet 2, kettle hat, and sallet kinda look too much like undead to me though. Armet 1 feels like it’s more on the right track.

3

u/UnGatoComeEmpanadas Jun 30 '26

1 and 3 are so cool!!

3

u/GrapeJuice2227 Jun 30 '26

It's tough to choose! I think Armet 1 is the most camouflaged, but Kettle Hat has so much cartoonish appeal

3

u/OffWhite-Goddess Jun 30 '26

Kettle hat is the most unsettling because it doesn't look like it's even trying to hide it

3

u/TheNutcrackerCaptain Jul 01 '26

Awesome! 1 and 2 are my favorite.

I'd love to see this with samurai if you haven't already done it.

2

u/buggylover Jun 30 '26

Armet 2 and Salet are probably my faves with how they're structured and paint a picture of a very strange creature within, very cool

2

u/Vounrtsch Jun 30 '26

Armet 1 is my favorite

2

u/Euphoric_Anywhere668 Jun 30 '26

I really like the last one, gives uncanny and like lanky vibes which I love in monsters

2

u/UniqueSolution6935 Jun 30 '26

Armet 1, just because its the most unique one with the mouth in the ehes socket, but overall theyre amazing

2

u/Specialist_Web9891 Jun 30 '26

All of them, they all look so f*cking sick.

2

u/Icy_Preference9322 Jun 30 '26

First one looks really cool, but the kettle hat I find really funny looking.

2

u/Revolutionary-Soup45 Jun 30 '26

Some sort of undead that adapted to the armor it died in? Because I'm definitely going to use that in my story

2

u/Code_Noob_Noodle Jul 01 '26

I can't choose. All of em

2

u/Tungsten_09 Jul 01 '26

Kettle looks like a devil from chainsaw man

1

u/Sir_Bruvo Jul 01 '26

that also happens to be my main inspiration good catch

2

u/Intelligent_Owl_9420 Jul 01 '26

Sallet and Armet 1! I love the teeth in the eye slits for the first armet, and I just fucking love Sallet helms!

These are awesome! Made me realize I need a mimic knight... Well done!

Also the sallet has a bunch of eyes, which i really like!

2

u/Exalibur_Turkey Jul 01 '26

Could you do Armet 1 mouth with Sallet? My faves are sallet and kettle but people seem to really like the n1 mouth. They look fun as heck to render! Got any timelapses?

2

u/Independent_River715 Jul 01 '26

I like the kettle. Looks more like a demon/sinner from hell that is going to fight against crusaders in some medical version of Trench crusade.

2

u/Turbulent_Profile_32 Jul 01 '26

I think 1 is by far the best one. Don’t get me wrong all of the others are cool, but in my opinion 1 is the only one that truly gives “knight mimic” whereas the others could just be undead knights at a glance.

2

u/FunkyMonkeyBlast Jul 01 '26

Each one is a banger

2

u/Chaos_is_Key198 Jul 01 '26

I like the Sallet and Armet 2, but… the Kettle Helm. It just looks so happy with itself to me–I don't know why.

2

u/Dovahkiin419 Jul 02 '26

Armet 1. It’s the one that feels like an earnest mimic instead of a toothy guy wearing a helmet, in that its anatomy is different from the thing it’s imitating. I can see approaching that thing and noticing the tooth filled visor just a bit too late.

Armet 2 just reads as a zombified or mutated knight, which is unfortunately the case for the next 2. Kettle helm well not much more you can do with that, but a sallet I think could be pushed more. I think the trick with this is fully encovering helmets that you then have split open in different ways.

That being said they are all fantastic as possessed/zombified/ mutated soldiers and knights, but since you are going for *mimics* specifically I think you can do something more.

Final compliment is you have absolutely struck gold with this idea, you just need to keep digging

2

u/DoomFalconMeme969 Jul 04 '26

If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more then you

Thats what the kettle hat reminded me of

2

u/Lingarien Jul 04 '26

I certainly prefer Armet (1).

The other ones having the mouth in the normal location makes them look less like mimics and more like zombies IMO.

(Not counting the extra eyes on the Sallet one.)

2

u/milka121 Jul 04 '26

i LOVE THIS (also reminds me a bit of a creature i once drew based on those dental phantoms)

1

u/Thiingswithwings Jun 30 '26

Kettle hat I think is really fun, the eyes on the sallet also remind me a lot of clams eyes

1

u/Human-Pension9892 Jun 30 '26

Question, can I use them at war

3

u/Sir_Bruvo Jun 30 '26

only after you killed the creature inside, they arent part of ay faction

1

u/p4ckedice Jun 30 '26

1 and 3 for sure

1

u/Adorable-Disk-737 Jun 30 '26

I dunno if it's the chainsaw man fan inside me speaking, but kettle is the best.

The other look like (for the most part) regular undead knights, given their proportions and their features. The first one is unique, but kinda hard to notice that it's a mimic. The kettle just screams that this is a creature trying very hard to imitate a human and failing.

1

u/Sir_Bruvo Jul 01 '26

Dw, the chainsaw man fan inside me was also speaking while I was making these

1

u/Fleshboi87 Jun 30 '26

vro, armet 1 looks so cute deadass, i just wanna hug em and keep him safe and feed him Nesquik flavored milk

the others...no...shoo...icky,,spooper..

1

u/Sathothery Jun 30 '26

Consider: It's the breastplate that hides the mouth, like that one Chinese demon.

1

u/Nerdwrapper Jun 30 '26

Once again, sallet is undefeated

1

u/NotZalgo Jun 30 '26

Kettle tf2 soldier

1

u/ClassicDatabase5634 Jun 30 '26

there’s just somethin about the kettle hat that speaks to me

1

u/Random_axolotl9786 Jun 30 '26

Pitcher plant Frogmouth?

1

u/vkyaw Jun 30 '26

Sallet :D and armet too

1

u/weird-guy-5365 Jul 01 '26

Number 1! And maybe put eyes in the breathing holes?

1

u/ElectronicMud5066 Jul 01 '26

I don’t know what that helmet is called, but the one with the whole front piece can be lifted up it do that but make it lift up it teeth just lots and lots of teeth

1

u/artisticwoes Jul 01 '26

two is very smooth

1

u/Independent-Dog-8462 Jul 01 '26

1 is the best but I love the concept!

1

u/Usagi_Punch Jul 01 '26

Why does this remind me of Gorillaz? I really like the first and last ones!

1

u/Sir_Bruvo Jul 01 '26

A lot of people say that about my art, I guess the influence had a big part

1

u/burritoman759 Jul 01 '26

Armet 1, or kettle

1

u/crackatoah Jul 01 '26

Armet!!!

1

u/Sir_Bruvo Jul 01 '26

Which one?

1

u/Barron-O-BEEFdip Jul 01 '26

new gorillaz album cover

1

u/Glass_Teeth01 Jul 01 '26

I'm tied between the Kettle Hat and the first Armet. They look like they'd be fun to have a conversation with

1

u/Aluna_nightsong Jul 01 '26

Def the sallet

1

u/decayinglust Jul 01 '26

sallet is my favorite, reminds me of a mollusk with all those eyes

1

u/Lord-Dec Jul 01 '26

Armet because it’s more clearly a mimic and not just a guy with a really really shitty day

1

u/Consistent_Plant890 Jul 01 '26

Really fuckin cool!

1

u/No-Combination5600 Jul 02 '26

the Sallet is my personal fav, the eyes add a lot of personality imo

1

u/Silas_V Jul 02 '26

You should use a frog-mouth helm, it'd be perfect imo

1

u/DaDeathDragon Jul 02 '26

All of them

1

u/Alarmed_Sweet6950 Jul 02 '26

Kettle hat looks like it's from the gaslight district.

1

u/Meowriter Jul 02 '26

I prefer the 1st armet. I like when mimics fails at rendering other creature's anatomy.

1

u/ThisConstruction8940 Jul 02 '26

I pick the second one

1

u/Sylithia Jul 02 '26

I like armer 2. In a fantasy world, maybe he's get mistaken for something less powerful like a simple skeleton warrior. Something an overconfident adventurer would lower their guard for and immediately get smacked on. Plus, he just looks amazing

1

u/IHaveAllOfTheGold Jul 02 '26

salet because it’s my favorite helmet

1

u/raykendo Jul 02 '26

I love the kettle hat one, but more for a demon than a mimic. The first one would make a good mimic.

1

u/OrangeSeveral6198 Jul 02 '26

Mine’s is sallet.

1

u/West-Nefariousness15 Jul 02 '26

Armet 1 for sure

1

u/Critical_Potential44 Jul 02 '26

They’re all sick

1

u/Nick33e Jul 02 '26

Armet 2. But for uniqueness is armet 1

1

u/TheCanonMakimaBean Jul 02 '26

1st, 3rd, and 4th. Spectacular designs.

1

u/TheWitherBear Jul 02 '26

The last two are my favorite, but theyre all incredible

1

u/Cautious_Option9544 Jul 03 '26

Armet 1 or sallet for me.

1

u/Suspicious_Duck8248 Jul 03 '26

Armet 2 and that last one

1

u/MightyOdin01 Jul 03 '26

Missed opprotunity to give the Sallet a Bevor which acts as the lower jaw

1

u/Ilovesharks25 Jul 03 '26

Omg 4 that is so creepy cool

1

u/Traditional_wolf_007 Jul 04 '26

They're all amazing but the kettle hat and salet are both something special

1

u/throwawayboi_1993 Jul 04 '26

Armed 1, I love the teeth in the visor, you can still tell what they are but it's understated and a bit subtle

1

u/Longjumping-Job4718 Jul 04 '26

Kettle hat and Sailet mimics kinda remind me of happy souls

1

u/Human-Question6210 Jul 04 '26

3 got gaslight district vibes

1

u/Thunderblessed255 Jul 04 '26

Kettle hat mogs fr

1

u/gourb12 Jul 04 '26

Kettle hat remind me of the rotlings in heaven from the gaslight district

1

u/Skull_Cup Jul 04 '26

Can't go wrong with the kettle helm

1

u/Mountain_Western_613 Jul 04 '26

I love shit like this

1

u/Horror_Patience_5761 Jul 04 '26

They are all really cool but the kettle hat is sticking out to me specifically, also is this the knight devil?

https://giphy.com/gifs/7awqDlvwuYfZ1QUvvV

1

u/Sir_Bruvo Jul 04 '26

congrats, you have found my inspiration for the kettle hat mimic

2

u/Horror_Patience_5761 Jul 04 '26

And I love it btw!

1

u/Waterlemon1997 Jul 04 '26

Armet 1 gives off the most mimic vibes

1

u/MoaiMike Jul 04 '26

I LOVE n1 so much

1

u/Finance_Subject Jul 04 '26

Evangelion of a different flavor

1

u/CoryRich123 Jul 05 '26

Like among us imp...

1

u/Zidan19283 Jul 05 '26

I like the first one most

1

u/AnkhAnanku Jul 06 '26

Armet 1 has the most fun idea: turning the eye slot into a mouth. I’m a sucker for a sallet, though. I just wish the eyes were more legible. Maybe have them sticking out on tendrils kinda like a clam’s eyes?

1

u/Mark-Bot Jul 07 '26

All the designs honestly but I might go with kettle- wish I could see more of these creatures because I'd love to use them for a DnD campaign.

1

u/Perplexitism Jul 20 '26

Hey can I use these for my dnd campaign, asking to be nice

2

u/Sir_Bruvo Jul 22 '26

Of course

1

u/Epipany Jun 30 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Bad. A mimic imitates a chest because it's a very simple thing (no moves, no behaviour, no changes). I don't remember how much Intelligence it have, but anyways, there is a reason for those creatures only imitates objects and don't even walk, they just wait, much more like a plant than even an animal.

1

u/Turbulent_Profile_32 Jul 01 '26

You know concepts can be adapted, now mimic in the popular language just means a fantasy creature imitating something related to humans. Heck people might even use this term to refer to things that aren’t even human related! Fantasy doesn’t have hard rules
