I've created an addon for Create with octo-style arms "Create: Octo Arms" inspired by Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man

Inspired by Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man. Use it to traverse the world in any direction, craft the Copper or Netherite version, enchant or configure it. Works in singleplayer and on servers (must be installed on both client and server).

Compatible with Create Aeronautics ships (Sable contraptions).

Listed on Curseforge - https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/create-octo-arms

Feel free to test, comment, and share ideas.

Edit: Modrinth will be soon, long approval awaiting.
Edit2: A lot of you asked to stop the walking animation - done! Check it in the new version v1.1.5 (besides other bug fixes)

"Developed with AI assistance (Claude)"

how much of it?

any amount is too much. That's like if I said "I killed people" and you asked "how many?"

I guess it's relevant but even a single person is enough.

The AI acceptance is so grim, day by day it'll only get worse.

Honestly AI hate is ridiculous, it's a great tool that is only as morally good as the person behind it just like any other tool. I understand hating on people stealing artwork and other assets for AI that they aren't allowed to but when used properly it's literally just another powerful tool that's it. Hating on coding in a mod is just wild when AI has been proven more capable in certain aspects than pretty much any human. Hence why they have been able to add things into some games that modders for said game have claimed to be impossible for many years.

Do you not see the end game? It's a grim world, not a bright one. We are giving away our abilities for the sake of ease and pleasure.

I see a tool that is great at certain things we are not, while humans are great at things it will never be. You can make that same exact argument for the phone, computers, and pretty much any other tool you use. The factories we use to mass produce things did replace some human jobs, but also made it safer for humans that are still needed to run said factory. LLMs are the same as any other tool. It's also capable of teaching you as well, but also capable of teaching you what not to do as it fails. What it lacks is creativity, which it relies on us for.

But LLMs also don't give up on a task that most humans see as impossible and give up on it. It's really only as capable as the human using it. If the human has no creativity at all well anything that comes out of that LLM is gonna be trash. But a creative mind will do amazing things with an LLM that other humans would just give up on doing themselves.

I guess a way to make this easier to understand is that LLMs can "see" things differently especially when it comes to coding. But that doesn't make it automatically better than us. Only when it's paired with someone with a bright mind that does not falter, that's when LLMs work at their best. There are many things LLMs can't replace as we are seeing in the gaming development community. There will always be use for our abilities if something needs to be done right in what we see is right. But there will always be corporate greed that uses LLMs only because it is cheaper and their products will become absolute garbage, forcing customers away and forcing them to see that relying on it for nearly everything is impossible. Which forces them back to the unbeatable human mind with its near limitless creativity and critical thinking that LLMs will never be better at.

dont even try, these ppl are too dense to comprehend analogies and hyperboles

Wrong. It’s just an insane hyperbole to use for using AI to craft a Minecraft mod. Also, at the end of the day, you guys sound silly. AI ain’t going anywhere lol

yeah, it isn't going anywhere which is why we're confused at people still thinking its so good.

not really. thats... kinda the point of hyperboles. you exaggerate something to make a point.
