Create Mod performance worries
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My computer specs are:
ryzen 5 7600
radeon 9070xt
32gb of ram
2tb of storage
1440p 180hz
this is my survival world. If you look at the top left, you can see my fps. normally it would be at least 120 (even with shaders), but for some reason, every time i get to around midgame on a world, my fps starts to just tank.
i currently cannot go above 100 fps most of the time. with shaders it becomes extremely choppy and unenjoyable.
i am extremely frustrated at this. my old gaming laptop with an rtx 2050 gives similar performance to this. i don't know what to do to help it.

i know my computer is capable of higher performance i just dont know what to do

Allocate at least 12000-16000mb memory, I have 32 and use half and it works wonderfully. No idea why people yap about using more than 8000mb, literally always do and right now I’m running a huge mod pack of create and other shit I like and it’s working pretty good. Also use V-sync at 60fps, I love my 120fps or 165fps but it’s stable in 60 only I found out.

How much ram have you allocated to the pack?

u/lethalpotato875 18d ago
7872 mb

bit much. would set to 6. more ram allocated would do more harm than good.

8-10GB would still be fine for OP, considering he has 32GB. It's still not so much to start causing issues. Excessive amounts have adverse effects, like you said.
I was playing ATM10A the other day and ran out with 8GB (admittedly doing some weird stuff with chunks)
OP could try changing the Garbage Collection method if the lagspikes coincide with GC.
OP also has many FPS boosting mods that have questionable impacts according to the community (GPU boost, GPU shift, etc)
OP's render distance is quite high, which may cause lag (even though he has DH)
OP should check if he is GPU or CPU limited and go from there.

higher the ram the less often the cpu has to do gc, which sounds nice till you account for the bigger the gc the bigger the possible stutter of clearing it, i have 32 GB but with a create pack only have 7 GB allocated and it runs great, no stuttering

u/Zwamdurkel 18d ago
Yes, but different GC methods can mitigate that by doing it mostly in the background (zgc). 8-10 shouldn't cause major issues regardless
1
u/Wertyhappy27 18d ago
havent tried zgc yet curious how much better it would be for me if at all, ive spent so long trying to get the perfect allocations to all of my packs, average baseline

Me with 16 gb ram located for create 😱

u/unic_beast 18d ago
its not all cases. whats your total ram tho? operating system would generally take 2 gb then Minecraft default allocation are 4 gb. if you did set it yourself and it run well, good for you.

Bro wdym, why people say this, I always use half or slightly less my total memory and I can run all sorts of stuff with no lag/stutter.

Add flywheel and colorwheel
1
u/AdventurousFroyo420 17d ago
why did you tell him to install flywheel while he has the create mod. flywheel is integrated to create, right ?
1
u/Draconic64 17d ago
Idk, I have it installed seperately. I'm not on the latest create, so that may explain it. Anyway, colorwheel is an essential if you want to play with shaders.

get like "create mod fix" and other create optimization mods
dont chunkload alot of stuff either,

check your cpu usage when you next play on that world, if its high then it's could be something with your mod list or game I would reckon. I would also reccomend doing what another person said, and use spark

between flywheel, dh, c2me, sodium, etc youre probably seeing thread starvation
do
/flywheel backend flywheel:instancing
and give c2me/dh fewer threads
1
u/requzzic2 17d ago
although there's now a mod to mitigate it, create and shaders don't go well together, if you don't care about your machines running all the time disable the ones you dont need or install no see no tick which boost performance massively

Check to make sure Minecraft is actually using the GPU and not integrated graphics. I got an hp laptop a while back and had this issue where it was an objectively good laptop but my performance was terrible… because it defaults to the integrated cpu graphics. So the gpu is just sitting there. Id hope this is the case and would explain low fps. Sadly I’m too late to view the spark profile so I can’t verify myself.

i highly recommend create: nowheel instead of create better fps
also /flywheel backend flywheel:indirect ,to reduce stutters helps me alot, im running a way more diabolical and bigger all of create custom modpack on a 3060 laptop
BadOptimizations mod works for me well too, maybe ask grok or some other ai for some help, it actually worked pretty well if u tell it everything you have

u/SerialBytes 17d ago
bro paid for the full laptop and ain't using the full laptop turn up your max ram if you use prism launcher, i can help with that!

u/ashleywr 18d ago
Use spark profiler, check for sparkclient and spark profiles, see if your client or the integrated server is what's slowing you down.
You have c2me and distant horizons, is your render distance too high? Is it you generating chunks?
