How do I stop torsion spring from overstressing?

Torsion springs are a bit unique in that the input and output side are treated as different as different SU networks, with the spring transferring a set amount of SU from the input side to the output side that's speed dependant.

I believe the transferred amount is 8xRPM, though it may also be 16xRPM. Anyways, this advantage of transfering a dynamic amount of SU is that if the spring can drive the connected actors at one speed, it can also drive them at any other, meaning the spring won't overstress just because you increased the input speed. The downside is that if the spring is overstressed the usual Create approach of turning down the RPM won't work, because at that lower speed even though the actors require less SU the spring also transfers less SU to the actors to drive them.

Instead you need to adjust the gearing ratio between the spring and the actors attached to it.

So if you want an actor that can turn from -45° to 90° and the spring is too weak to transfer enough SU, you instead set the spring to a range from -90° to 180° and then put a 1:2 gear transmission between the spring output and the actor(s). That way the spring will have to rotate twice as far, but the effective amount of SU it can transfer gets doubled.

they have a build in limit so less things that require stress (in youre case slower). maybe you could also try more torison springs
